Review: I completely agree with [redacted] previous review. Do not buy from this dealership!! [redacted] has been in the used car business for a very long time and knows exactly how to play the game, and that game is always in the best interest of the dealership and the owner, and certainly not the buyer. [redacted] has a very shady past in this industry and has a very low approval rating by many professionals here in the Erie area that I have personally talked to. Unfortunately I found this out only after buying a vehicle from him. I've talked with at least 8 people that have known him over the years, and not one of them had a positive thing to say about him, not one!! I almost felt bad for him...almost. His rudeness and poor personality were made apparent almost immediately after meeting him. After I test drove the car I talked with him about a few of things that I had concerns with... he began to cop an attitude with me as if I just insulted him. I guess it's because he hand picks all the vehicles himself and couldn't stand to hear that the vehicle he hand picked had issues. So after I told him that it shuttered real bad when stopping he refuted that by saying there's nothing wrong with it. I told him to take it for a quick spin so he could see for himself...he replied to me by saying "I'm not driving it!" At first, I was like the heck with this guy, but my wife really, really liked the car and I didn't want to screw this up for her. He eventually got in it, obviously annoyed, and quickly drove it in a circle around the cars in his TINY LITTLE LOT at a high rate of speed. He got out and said it's fine, just a little rust from sitting on the lot for so long and that it would eventually wear off. Fast forward, I ended up buying the car and after having my mechanic look at it, I brought it back to Bayfront Auto...as it turns out, [redacted] was WRONG and the rotors were so bad they were beyond fixing and needed to be replaced. He did pay for the rotors, but he made me pay for the labor...good, but not good enough as I feel since I told him they were bad before the purchase, he should have paid for the labor too. My mechanic also located a bad resonator which is basically a small muffler close to the engine, there is also a larger typical muffler in the back of the vehicle but that one seemed fine. [redacted] refused to pay for the resonator...a $487 part. I know, I know I should have had it checked first, but I did come back the very next day. Also, the mileage on the inspection sticker was more than what was on the odometer. I did not notice that until after the purchase as well. He assured me that is was an error by the person who issued the sticker and that the odometer was not rolled back. The State Police are in the middle of investigating this issue to see if there was any wrong doing. Interestingly, I found out that [redacted] worked for a Honda dealer here in Erie (Off of 99 now Interstate Auto) about 10 years ago or so that was shut down for odometer tampering. Now I'm not saying he was involved or knew about the tampering...I'll just let the buyer decide for themselves if they feel comfortable purchasing a vehicle after knowing this. We also bought a four year extended warranty (at least we thought we bought a 4 year warranty) for this vehicle for $1250. After only 2 months I started hearing some weird noises/popping coming from the transmission and/or left front axle...so I went straight for the warranty paperwork to review our policy, and what did I find, he checked the 3 year warranty box instead of the 4 year. There is no set dollar amount next to the years on the warranty paperwork as there's no set price. They are charged a flat rate from the insurer, the dealer then can sell the policy to the customer for what ever amount he chooses. That's how they make their money on the warranty. My wife and I are 100% sure he told us 4 years for $1250 as she wrote it down while talking to him...he got us good on that one!! I honestly believe he checked the 3 year box after my wife signed the paperwork...and yes, we know she screwed up by not reading it more carefully. I just stopped to see him this evening to see if he may have accidentally checked the wrong box, (I knew we were screwed as the paper work had been signed but I tried anyway) but he would not work with us at all. But he did feel the need to sling some foul language, including the f bomb at me because of my decision to have the State Police look into the odometer and inspection sticker discrepancy...too bad [redacted], it's wrong and it's my right to have it investigated...no reason for him to get mad at me as he should have caught that when he purchased the vehicle himself. Bottom line, in my opinion he's a shady character to say the least. If you decide to buy from him, have the vehicle checked out thoroughly by a trusted mechanic first...and read all the paperwork before signing. The fact that I gave this place $18000+ worth of business makes me sick to my stomach. I honestly don't know how people like this can sleep at night...sad, very sad. Also, the only good thing about this place is the guy that details the cars. He seems to be a good guy and does fantastic work.Desired Settlement: Would like the resonator replaced as it was bad when I purchased the vehicle as it could not pass the state inspection as is. Also, would like to have the 4 year extended warranty for $1250 as we were initially quoted by [redacted] instead of the 3 year warranty for $1250

To the answer on Mr [redacted] complaint

Just because 1 customer puts a complaint on the internet that they are not happy with

BAYFRONT AUTO or [redacted] does not mean that every customer is not happy with bayfront

auto, and just because I have many years in the business does not make me a bad person, I do a very

good job at what I do and have many customers that are happy and come back and buy many more cars

and send many customers to purchase cars. ALSO in mr [redacted] complaint he states in his own words

that he test drove the VOLVO before he bought the SUV and he had some concerns, and after we

talked about it he still bought the VOLVO with nothing promised to him. Within a couple days after

they purchased the Volvo he came back to the dealership and told me he took it to his mechanic and

said the rotors where bad, so bayfront picked up brand new rotors for the vehicle to try and make a

customer happy I gave them to him and told him he could have them put on, after I did that then mr

[redacted] came back a couple of days later to bayfront and wanted us to replace the resonator also, which I

would not do mr [redacted] bought a used vehicle and when you do sometimes you might have to do some

repairs to the vehicle, and then after that he came back to BAYFRONT again and said there was more

miles on the inspection sticker then there was on the vehicle, there was a car fax pulled on the Volvo

and it was clear that someone had made a error on the inspection sticker and I told him that when he

was here.

MR [redacted] states in the letter that I worked for a

Honda dealership 10 years ago I never worked for a Honda dealership nor was I ever involved in

odometer tampering because if I was I would not have a salesman license today, also he states that I

sold him a 4 year warranty but only gave him a 3 year warranty, we had discussed a 3 year warranty and

a 4 year warranty and they decided to go with a 3 year warranty and that is what they got and paid for. I

could go on and on in this letter but I just think mr [redacted] is just trying to get some free things done to

the Volvo and bayfront is not going to do that, we have many happy customers and I feel we have done

everything that we could for him

BAYFRONT AUTO

Review: Basically a week after buying my 2002 TOYOTA RAV4 (paid with a 8500.00 check), with a 6 month extended warranty which is advertised, the car's computer started to go. I explained how the car was running to the dealership, it was backfiring, not accelerating right and not moving correctly. I brought it to Bayfront's garage as I was instructed and they rebooted it as I was told it would probobly happen again and it is not covered. It happened again a week later, so I called the salesman, [redacted]. He was very rude with me and actually told me to take it to [redacted] Toyota's dealership to see if they would fix it due to a 10 year warranty if you will, that Toyota had on this particular part to this car. My husband then called Bayfront and [redacted] lied to him and told him he never told me to take it to Toyota to get it fixed and that they would take care of it. LIE! I was lucky enough that Toyota fixed this problem for me. What dealership sends their customers elsewhere?! Anyways, I get my car inspected to now have three parts that need fixed..all NOT COVERED BY THE ADVERTISED WARRANTY! I know there are things not always covered but do they cover anything??! All I want is the money for the part that I did pay. Everything isn't even fixed on my car, I just can't afford it right now. I paid $245.00 for the ONE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR and the PURGE CANISTER would have cost me $400.00 but I was told it could be let go for now. I know cars need repaired but they did not even own this car for a week after I bought the car. If Toyota did not help me, it would have been over $1000.00. They are not willing to help anybody for anything. Their warranty is also garbage. They should not be advertising it, if it does nothing for their customers.Desired Settlement: I just at least want $245.00 for what I just recently paid for. This car has been nothing but problems since the first week I bought it and nothing seems to be covered by the warranty that Bayfront advertises for all of their vehicles. Nothing seems to be covered. My car is not even totally fixed, that's the least they can do is fix SOMETHING for me! I work in a bar in this small city and know alot of people. I will be sure to let everyone know about this.

See attached File

We sold [redacted] a used 2002 TOYOTA rav4 with a 113,000 miles a week or so after we sold it [redacted] called and said that the rav4 was not running properly I had her take the vehicleto a service garage that we used and they instructed me that there was only so much that they could do and if it did it again it would have to go to a TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, I did not send her to the toyota dealership to get rid of her I sent her there so they could fix it, which was under the toyota warranty, we sell most of our cars with a 6 month 7500 mile limited warranty that has a $100.00 deductible to it, it does not cover bumper to bumper, and it is a good warranty that a lot of customers are happy with, at this time I am sorry to say that we can not help her.
