SHYSTER - SCAM ARTIST â?? CROOK!!!

I purchased a boat from Bayouâ??s Best Marine earlier this year. Mr. [redacted], the owner of Bayou's Best Marine, was selling this boat for a client. Meaning he was making a commission on the sale, $1500. He also made several thousand dollars over the course of 2-3 years â??making repairsâ?? to this individualâ??s boat. I inspected the boat (cowling covers off), and took the boat for a test drive for about 15 minutes. I made a punch list of items that I requested be repaired before I would purchase the boat. Mr. [redacted] assured me that all would be done (he got approval from the boat owner to make these repairs). This is the first instance of Mr. [redacted] lying to me. Some of these were not small items, such as leaking trim ram and a leaking steering ram. He cleaned the boat up and got it â??readyâ?? for purchase. I spoke with him several times and made sure the boat had been repaired and was ready to go before I came over to purchase. This was the second, third, fourth instance of him lying to me. Purchased the boat, within a day of returning home noticed both rams still leaking. Started calling Mr. [redacted]. His general response was â??well man I fixed that stuff, not sure why itâ??s leakingâ??. When in reality he did nothing but wiped the oil and residue away to give the appearance of repair. He claimed he replaced an O ring for the steering ram, he may have replaced the $0.19 O ring, but that obviously didn't solve the problem (strike one). The ram on the trim was still leaking (strike two). So this was 2 strikes on him! I got the steering and trim rams fixed on my own because I had zero cooperation from [redacted] (about $1000 worth of work locally). He basically said â??he triedâ??, sorry they were still leaking. This is coming from a so called â??mechanicâ??.
Wife, kids, and I take the boat out soon after repairs to rams, ran good for about 45 minutes. Then port engine starts running very rough. Quickly shut down and find WATER in ENGINE OIL !!!! STRIKE THREE!!!! Limp back in, on one engine, this was my maiden voyage in this boat! So I start calling [redacted], leaving voice messages, emailing, etc. NO RESPONSE! After about 2 weeks he 'accidentally' answered my call. I explained the issue and asked him what the deal was and that this is a huge problem and I felt that this was unacceptable! He stayed on the phone with me for about 2 minutes, then used the excuse he had a customer waiting, and he'd â??call me right backâ?. Never heard from him again!!!! Big surprise!! I tried contacting him about a dozen more times by phone (left messages) and emailed him numerous times. He never answered or responded! He knew there was a problem when he sold the motor to me!! I'm sure of it, why else would he avoid/screen my calls/emails? He's a CROOK!
Got in touch with the original boat owner, he dumped all the responsibility on [redacted] at bayou's best marine. The owner spoke to [redacted] said he'd wiped his hands of it, wasn't going to make this situation right. He was done with it. I know the old saying, buyer beware, but in this case [redacted] was flat out lying and being deceitful with me!!! After some digging with my mechanic, we discovered a spot on the port engine (what Suzuki calls the engine keeper) where [redacted] placed bondo/epoxy to cover up a whole in the block and painted it black to disguise it!! DIRTY ROTTEN!!!! This issue wasn't discovered until we took side covers off the outboard. This outboard was destroyed. My mechanic quoted me between $2500-$4000 to repair, depending on damage (new block, head, etc). Keep in mind, I had run this outboard for 45 minutes since buying the boat! Bottom line, this dude is a liar!! He tells you what you want to hear to try to make a sale. He kept blaming some of the issues on the boat owner. When in reality he was definitely lying to me and probably the owner? He swindled the owner out of thousands over the last few years and swindled me on both rams, that he supposedly repaired, and a busted outboard that's taking on water. BEWARE of BAYOU'S BEST MARINE! Dishonest and deceitful!!!!!!! CROOKS! Bottom-line, [redacted] is a SHYSTER and a LIAR!!!!
