Ms. [redacted] was refunded $82.50 by refund to the credit card we have on file. This was done even though her booking through Booking.com has a Cancellation Policy that...
reads:
"If cancelled or modified up to 7 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled or modified later or in the case of a no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged."
Ms. [redacted] made the reservation on June 24, 2014 through Booking.com. The site clearly states in 3 locations the above cancellation policy & further provides either the last date available to do that or states you are beyond the ability to cancel to get a refund. It is on the date, location search page. The page where guest information is inserted. It is on the page where the guest enters credit card information.
Ms. [redacted] was not able to cancel at the site for these reasons. She then called me & said that she had lost her job & needed to cancel. I explained the above to her. She said it was unfair & I needed to cancel again because she had lost her job. She further told me that he husband & son were coming up fishing with a guide & because she lost her job they would have to drive right back. The room charge was $82.50 I would think the fuel to drive up & the charge for the guide were much more then that. At any rate she went on to tell me that she would report me to Revdex.com, the Eagle River area Chamber, Booking.com & to the guide to make sure no one stayed here if I did not refund her money.
It is unfortunate that cancellations are in place but as I explained to Ms [redacted] when guests wish to cancel & they are within the time period to cancel they do not always tell the truth about the situation. One guest recently went as far as telling me her father in law died. The next summer she reserved again & yes her dead father in law came with her.
To show my correspondence with Ms. [redacted] I am forwarding the actual emails to her in separate emails. You will receive after you receive this email. There are 3 forwards to follow this email.
Ms. [redacted]'s money was refunded even though it really is not fair to all who do follow the rules.
If you can provide a way to deal with these situations that is a better one please by all means share we me. I am a small motel just trying to make a fair & honest living.
