Bayview Veterinary Hospital Reviews (1)

The following is in response to a letter written to me concerning above complaint I D. Included in thisletter is an attached copy of the medical records concerning this case. I hope that will be of value inestablishing the facts of this Customer (client) complaint. As can clearly be seen by...

reviewing the
medical records on "[redacted]", a neutered male 13 year old domestic shorthair cat, owned by [redacted]
[redacted], many of the claims by Ms. [redacted] are just not true.
As can be noted on the medical records "[redacted] was presented to Bayview Veterinary Hospital foran examination thru PAWS (Progressive Animal Welfare Society). This initial examination performed onJuly 29, 2016 revealed a very ill patient. Showing approximate 10% dehydration, severe purulent earinfection (possible external and middle ear infection), swollen face/pitting edema, abnormal palpableleft kidney, severe skin infection, including a large open wound indicating long standing severe medicalconditions. All clinical findings were discussed with Ms. [redacted] and appropriate treatment wasinstituted. Future laboratory testing was recommended. Please note that the facial swelling that theclient claimed occurred after a few days, claiming our treatments caused said swelling was noted duringthis initial examination, prior to any of our recommended treatments had been made.
On August 15, 20161 a recheck examination was performed by myself (the male doctor), As can beseen on the medical recorords some of the medical conditions were showing improvement. I did changethe medication for the ear fection because it was a persistent infection. I notified Ms. [redacted] of thischange in medication. The initial ear infection medication was deliberately prescribed specificallybecause of a high suspicion of a middle ear infection and thus the normally prescribed ear drops couldnot be used initially due to high likelihood of severe side effects and complications. When I examinedthe cat I felt that the eardrum had healed and the otitis media had resolved and it was now safe to usethe regularly prescribed eardrops. I also changed parental antibiotics to assist in treating infections thatwere present.
Ms. [redacted]'s claim that deep down in her gut she knew the 'wrong' medicine caused her cat to havea seizure is very unlikely. More likely the seizure was due to the underlying serious long term chronicmedical conditions such as advanced kidney disease.
I am deeply sorry that there was such a gross misunderstanding of the medical diagnostics and treatments in this case. I am open and willing to discuss these misunderstandings with all parties if necessary in the future.  My good reputation speaks for itself.
Respectfully,
James E[redacted]
