Review: This complaint involves rent paid on a storage unit.I have been paying rent for a few years now and never had a problem.I wrote out my December rent check and mailed it to: B&B Storage, [redacted] on [redacted].On [redacted] I noticed that the check has not yet cleared my bank, so I called.He informed me that he had not received the check yet.I apologized and told him I would put a stop payment on it and get another check to him. He told me I would owe him a $10.00 late fee.5 minutes later he calls me back and tells me that he "just got it in the mail".I was so relieved.I asked him to waive the late charges and he told me that he had done it for me twice in the past.(I have NEVER been late!)I asked him what the postmark date on the envelope..[redacted] and the check..[redacted].I called the [redacted] and they told me the envelope is put in the PO Box the day the envelope is postmarked.It was sitting in his PO box for a week!then he wants to charge me a $10 late fee? what a scam!how many others is he collecting late fees from?when I challenged him, he told me it was his day off and hung up on me.He knew he was caught in a lie!This is not acceptable!Charging people late fees when they are not late.He needs to go to his PO box on the 1st or 2nd of each month like I do.Desired Settlement: I want him to be told that there was a complaint against his business for unacceptable business practices and to stop charging people late fees when they are not late. He is a grumpy, stubborn old man that is taking advantage of his customers.
