On November 30th,2012 My husband and I received a phone call from a bill collector. The collector claimed that our son owed $300 to his previous apartment University Towers in Orem Utah. When my husband paid the last bill in August his documentation was shown as a zero balance. (we always paid the rent, my son was NOT in charge of that) On top of that, my son received the security deposit back in September. I have repeatedly reached out to University Towers and only got one response from an employee named Alex that stated, "we hired a new accountant that went through the books and discovered that you owed another $300." When I questioned why they would give our son the security deposit back she replied," I have called my manager and he said he would look into it because it might be a mistake." We have since tried to get a response with no action and the debt collector continues to call our son and us everyday with threats of ruining my sons credit. This is a horrible business practice. We were never notified from the apartment in the first place. They just gave the bill over to the collection agency. I don't think that is even legal!
