Complaint ID: [redacted]Dear Revdex.com,On 11/16/2016 the Lexus IS 300 was TOWED in by customer due to braking down on the highway after hitting a pot hole. Customer wrote on work order vehicle had lost oil pan and started smoking. After looking at the vehicle it was apparent that there was no damage to...

the oil pan or the transmission pan. The smoking was caused by the transmission fluid leaking out onto the exhaust. After degreasing the entire undercarriage it was evident that the leak was coming from between the motor and transmission.  Advised and recommended to customer, removing transmission for further inspection. The estimate of $525 was discussed with Mr. White specifically for LABOR only because at this time the extent of damage to the transmission was not known. I contacted my transmission specialist which I have used for over 20 yrs. He is certified and owns his own business for many years. He recommended after diagnosis, parts listed on receipt. Pictures were taken of the cause of damage to transmission to back up all parts needed. Advised customer of findings, gave estimate, authorization WAS given by Mr. White. NEW parts were ordered and repairs were completed. It was test driven and checked for leaks. No leaks were seen vehicle shifted normally. Advised customer to drive vehicle before payment, which was done. Customer stated vehicle shifted fine but ran sluggish. Told customer that it was noted on receipt that no guarantee of issues to performance and drivability caused by loss of transmission fluid. I recommended further diagnosis but he declined. Advised him to contact me for any problems with repair due to having a 1 year / 12K warranty with Village Parkway. Customer never notified me of any problems after vehicle was picked up. In addition I would like to add that I have several issues with this complaint but will address only a few. It states that they chose my shop because it was the closest to them. This family has brought me their vehicles for repairs on many occasions in the past, especially this vehicle. The vehicle has been modified by customer that has and will affect its driving performance before and after this incident. It states that I lied to them and used parts from another vehicle. I have not lied to them about anything. I have receipts for every part used. It states I did not use a transmission specialist. I used a certified specialist. It states I did not do the work they were charged for. Work was done. Pictures of damage were taken.I would also like to say that most shops would have told this customer they needed to rebuild the entire transmission that’s about a $3000 job. I didn’t even charge the estimated amount for labor at $525. I only charged $475 due to it not taking as long as I had anticipated. In conclusion, I will just say, I give a warranty for a reason. There are no guarantees that parts won’t fail. I can’t make right something that has gone wrong if I’m not made aware of it.Sincerely,[redacted]
