B.C.F.G. Investors Group

We hired BCFG Investors Group as our General Contractor in September of 2012. The job involved combining two apartments in a co-op apartment building on the upper east side of NYC. BCFG, and its principles [redacted] and [redacted], promised a completion date of the first week of December. In addition to architectural plans, we provided BCFG with detailed specifications as to our needs in terms of building materials and design. A 35% project deposit of approximately $48K was paid up front and subsequent "progress payments" were made consistently within 48 hours upon each request. The project was not completed in the first week of December and in fact, we were unable to move in until the first week of February 2013 and the project was still not complete. A multitude of egregious errors were made over the course of the job - some fixable at great cost, others not. We met with [redacted] on March [redacted] to summarize where the project stood and how to resolve the outstanding items. At that point, we had still not passed our DOB plumbing inspection and had in fact FAILED our electrical inspection due to three errors their sub contractor had made. By this point, we had lost all faith in BCFG to complete the outstanding work. More significantly, we no longer wanted them in our home due to the stress they caused and issues that arose each time they walked through the door. For these reasons, we asked for a refund of $10,500 which constituted an amount we would need to pay a separate outside contractor to complete the work BCFG could not. [redacted] agreed in writing to refund this amount. He agreed to pay 20% by April [redacted] however this was not paid until April [redacted]. The balance of $8,400 is still outstanding.
