I rented a home from *** from 10 hours away. I trusted the home be up to par. When I got to the home on Monday 6/8, the first thing I noticed was the driveway in terrible condition (deep & uneven cracks). My little girl tripped twice that night on it within 5 minutes of arriving. My friend ***, whom I am naming as a witness, noticed the awful hazards of the driveway plus he pointed out the garage door. It had a huge gap underneath (certain this isn't up to code). It must have never been repaired as their was a piece of plywood to keep bugs/leaves out. However, I am a single mom and this is a huge safety concern to me. There were also multiple mice bait stations in the home which identifies a mice problem (prob from garage door). I never moved into the place and told *** in less then 24 hours the home wasn't workable. I went by there early Tuesday morning to discover a musty, wet dog smell in the carpets. I have 2 rare conditions called POTS & Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and have daily anaphylaxis which I am on chemo for. The smell set me off. With the POTS, I have days of wheelchair use and the driveway wasn't safe enough for me. *** had told me on Monday night numerous times that he would rent the place fast should I not be happy & he wanted people to be happy. The home was rented on 6/15 per *** & he used the same listing in *** as when I rented, as it never showed it was taken off the market when I rented. *** not only lied to me knowing I was a single mom, but even after being told about my disabilities that are covered under ADA, he still refused to return monies. His home was not up to par and he knew this. I can provide medical documentation for my conditions.
