B&D Mechanical Reviews (2)
Review: In November 2013, [redacted] (owner of B&D) was hired to clean our furnaces in preparation for winter. He advised us that we were in need of new furnaces for both apartments in our duplex. While he was talking to Lennox (our furnace manufacturer)my husband was available and concurred that we needed new furnaces. Two furnaces and one thermostat were installed by Mr. [redacted]. He said he would be back to install the other thermostat and bring us paperwork so we could get a rebate from WE Energies. He never returned. We left phone messages and he would call and say he was on his way and he would never show up. We kept calling and finally all we got was a message stating "Mail Box is Full." On Dec.9 I wrote him a letter explaining what we required and never received a response. Summer was coming and on June 18th we turned on our air conditioning and it didn't work. I called Air Comfort Systems. They checked and said that the air conditioners both upstairs and down, as well as the thermostat were not hooked up which should have been done when the furnaces were installed. It cost $350.00 to do the repairs. On June 20, 2014 I called Mr. [redacted] and explained what happened and he said he would refund the $350.00 and I was to give him a copy of the invoice from Air Comfort. That same day I sent him a copy as requested along with a letter explaining what our conversation was about that day. I sent it "First Class Mail, Return Receipt requested." After a week, I resent the letter mailed "First Class." Two days later Mr. [redacted] called and said he got the letter and would send the check. On July 18th I called again. He was in the Dells and would be back in Milwaukee on Saturday, the 19th, and would drop the check off. I told him we would be home all day. He never arrived. Called on the 21st; said he would bring the check that day. Never did. The first letter came back from the post office stating that no one had ever come to pick it up. We also missed receivng the WE Energies rebate.Desired Settlement: The money ($350.00) expended to diagnose and fix problems that should have been taken care of in November at the time of installation. This was agreed to by Mr. [redacted].
Review: [redacted] owner of B&D Mechanical was asked to give a bid for furnance replacement to my 86 yr old mother, he come up with a price of $3308.00 and talked my mom into writing a check for $1500.00 as a downpayment. I became aware of the $1500.00 check being written when I noticed it clearing my moms bank account and noted that it was cashed immediately by [redacted] My sister, who was present at the time of the bid called [redacted] (she knew of him as she had worked with his wife) repeatedly to get the money back I also had conversations with him regarding the refund of the $1500.00, he was cordial on the phone and always had excuses for not getting the refund check in the mail, the check never arrived and he stopped taking our calls. I called the [redacted] Dept. to file a report, the officer also called [redacted] who did speak to him indicating that there was a restocking fee of $750.00 for the furnace and that he would refund $750.00 and let us decide whether we wanted him to do the job. Obviously we would never had hired this guy as our contractor but thought some money would be better then no money, mom did not receive the $750.00 refund or the furnace. Our family certainly does not want to see anyone else victimized by this low life, not to mention the anxiety this has caused by mom and the fact he truly took advantage of her situation and age. I will also be in touch with Contact 6 to see if they can get the story out there, perhaps there are others who fell victim to this guy. Anything that can be done to get my moms money back would be appreciated, small claims court is our only recourse which is costly and once again not something I wish to have my 86 yr. old mother deal with.Desired Settlement: Would like to request a full refund of the $1500.00 as B&D Mechanical and its owner [redacted] are frauds.
