Beach Bum Tanning of Lodi Reviews (%countItem)

I purchased a tanning package on or around March 17, 2020, and then we had the safer at home because of covid-19. I used it twice and the owner has now closed the business and I should be awarded a refund for unpaid service. This is unprofessional and bad business. It is my understanding she is planning on opening some other business. She indicated that she used the monies for expenses. That is not my problem, I got laid off and go use that money back. This is very unprofessional and word of mouth goes a long ways

Beach Bum Tanning of Lodi Response • May 13, 2020

I am writing in response to a letter sent to regarding refund or exchange issue. The customer purchased a month tanning package on 3/16/2020 and used it 3/16, 3/17, and 3/18. I closed my salon due to Covid-19 on 3/19/2020 to give my self and staff time to figure out what our best practices would be during a pandemic. The Governor of the state of Wisconsin mandated tanning salons closed until 4/24/2020 on 3/20/2020. It has been known by for at least the last 6 months that my business would be closing as of 5/15/2020 if I could not locate a buyer. I had informed my customers with social media post, and signage on the front desk and each tanning room that all tanning packages and gift cards for tanning would expire as of 5/15/2020 if no one else took over the business. When Governor Evers extended the Safer at home order to 5/26/2020 this well surpassed my planed date to close and I had lost any interest I had from someone looking to take it over. Beach Bum Tanning closed for good.I had to lay off 4 people not including my self and miss the only season of the year my business doesn’t run at a loss. I owed rent, utilities, wages, taxes, vendor bills. The former customer in fact never reached out, her friend did. The former customer did receive product in place of a cash refund, as well as her friend that had reached out to me. I did not refund the full amount as she did use her package. I assumed it was a desired outcome as the product was taken. My tanning salon business usually runs with a no refund policy on unused session and no refunds on product that is not sealed. I do believe these circumstances are out of my control I would have reopened before my set closing date if the state would have let me. As for the accusations that I am taking the money and starting a new business it untrue. I have a separate business that I have owned for longer that the tanning salon that will continue, I assure you no moneys from the salon support this business, in fact it was the other way around for several years and I have truthfully finished my career as a tanning salon owner in the negative and using my own money to pay the dues. Thank you,***Formaly of Beach Bum Tanning

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I did not receive any product. I will settle for $40.50. It is not my fault she had to lay staff off. She should of kept non uses monies in a separate account and then took out as I used it. This is bad business practice and word of mouth goes a long way. Thank you

Regards
