Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: the business never offered me the option to show up and receive the refund in person the day-ofNeverAnd knowing I am based in New York, they never presented the option to have a friend go pick it upI have all the emails saved as I am sure they doSo the business and I are both aware they didn’t offer thisAnd the fact that the business closes their response with a reference to my deceased fiancé being “the saddest fat of all” after offering zero condolences when I informed them is a sick joke.
Regards,

[redacted] is owned by [redacted], which is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit Educational Organization. In 2005 we began allowing the public to use our small chapel which is located on our private property, and is free of charge to use. We have 6 time slots a day, 7 days a week. For the past several...

years [redacted] as played host to 1,000 weddings per year. As you can imagine this would not be possible without functioning systems, and policies. Those policies are clearly available on our website; in large red CAPITAL letters-with exclamation point we advise, IMPORTANT! READ THIS FIRST!, prior to advancing to the scheduling page.  Due diligence has been achieved in advising the public of what our policies are, and what they are agreeing to if they choose to have reserve the chapel for their event. The very nature of contracts, agreements and policies is for all parties to have a clear understanding rules in case something unexpected occurs; this predetermined outcome is what everyone who uses the chapel agrees to.  Sadly the unexpected did occur. No one can predict the future, and unforeseen circumstances happen every day, which is why we have agreements in the first place. In the twelve years that we have been allowing use of [redacted] this is not the first time when tragedy has struck the would-be Bride and Groom. We have heard, many heart-wrenching stories and it is devastating each and every time. Our policies were created with the clear intent of treating everyone equally, making no exceptions. We cannot, and will not renegotiate with each couple if/when something unexpected occurs. In this instance I received a call from a friend of the Bride. When she did not hear the desired answer (a full refund), she quickly became hostile- attempting to extort special treatment through threats of social media reviews and contacting the Revdex.com.  The Revdex.com, and all social media reviews have value and function, however using reviews as a tool of extortion to override an agreement made in good faith is not acceptable. The family could have kept the reservation, and picked up the full amount of the no show fee on the date of the event. If they live out of the area they could have appointed someone to come and pick up the check. Many who have lost a loved one choose to use the time at the chapel for a memorial service. The assumption leveled in the complaint is about the money ($250).  That somehow we made money as the time slot has ALREADY been filled.    Time is what we focused on when we created the policies.  How much time, energy and effort should we as an organization expend to allow others to use our facilities for free?  Our well thought out policies make the process streamed lined and as effortless as possible.  The less we need to be involved in the process the better.  This is why we implemented the cancelation policy- if we allowed date changes, and cancellations for the full amount we would have a logistical nightmare.  Everyone, all circumstances are treated exactly the same, with no exceptions.  We stand by our policies and what was agreed upon. The saddest part of all is that a young life has been cut short by cancer. [redacted]
