Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.   Please note that Beacon's response is totally inaccurate and misleading.  I tried to get a refund which they told me they did and after the fact did NOT.  I tried to talk to them on multiple occasions early on well before the deadline and yet they miss stated things and gave me the run around. The only reason I disputed this with my credit card company was Beacons did not leave me any other choice.

In response to Mr. [redacted] complaint on billing or collection issues. On 05/18/2016 Mr. [redacted] made a reservation #[redacted] at The Beacons of Minocqua under his brother’s name of [redacted], arriving 08/25/2016 and departing 08/31/2016. At the same time Mr. [redacted] also made a...

reservation #[redacted] under his name [redacted] arriving 08/26/2016 and departing 08/28/2016 .  When making these reservations Mr. [redacted] utilized a credit card ending in 5501 which was provided to us verbally.   The Beacons of Minocqua’s cancelation policy is “60 days prior to your arrival we take a deposit of half of your total stay. You have up to 30 days prior to cancel. If you cancel within 30 days you will forfeit your deposit”. This is stated to everyone who makes a reservation at The Beacons, as well as stated in every reservation confirmation. The Beacons took the deposit for reservation #[redacted] on 06/25/2016 in the amount of $689.85. The Beacons took a deposit on 06/26/2016 for reservation #[redacted] for $344.93. On 07/13/2016 Mr. [redacted] made a third reservation #[redacted] arriving 08/26/2016 and departing 08/31/2016. A deposit was taken for $459.90 on that reservation as well. On 07/13/2016 Mr. [redacted] shortened his stay on reservation #[redacted] at which time he also indicated his daughter would be staying for that reservation. Reservation #[redacted] was a no show and no person came to the desk to check in or check on the reservation. The front desk was told by one of the family members that [redacted] was staying in a different room at the resort. Since there was no check in no additional money was taken and no paperwork signed. Upon check-out Mr. [redacted] attempted to get the reservation #[redacted] canceled and his money back. Mr. [redacted] stated he never made that reservation and asked how we got his credit card number on a reservation for his brother. The front desk informed Mr. [redacted] that he would have had to give his credit information for each reservation as we are unable to see any more than the last four digits of the credit card. The front desk refunded an amount of $24.27 for a sweatshirt that he also never purchased? Which was the refund receipt he was handed. I believe that the front desk was not aware of what he was talking about in regards to refunding his room. Although we feel The Beacons is under no obligation to refund Mr. [redacted] for the lack of attention he gave to his reservations and complete disregard for cancelation policy, we will be refunding Mr. [redacted] the disputed amount of $689.85. It is apparent that if not refunded, he will attempt to take it up with the credit card company as he states. With this being an advanced deposit on a reservation we have no signed paper stating he agreed to this charge and the credit card company will reverse the charge. We have gone down this road with advance deposits in the past. Rather than wasting time we will refund him. If Mr. [redacted] had contacted the company, after not getting the desired result, rather than contacting the Revdex.com, this probably would have been resolved some time ago. I hope in the future that Mr. [redacted] gives some attention to the reservations he makes and pay close attention to the cancelation policies there in. Now not only is our business out $1172.76 for the entire reservation but had no ability to make up that revenue on a busy weekend. A refund will be applied to the credit card ending in 5501 in the amount of $689.85 on 09/26/2016. It may have to be explained to him that it may take a couple of days to actually show up on his credit card statement. Since Mr. [redacted] desired outcome has been met no further attention will be given to this issue.  Yours in Hospitality,[redacted]

On July 18, 2018 [redacted] rented a 15 Passenger Tri-toon from The Beacons of Minocqua. [redacted] signed a rental agreement, rules sheet, and pre-rental condition form. The pre-rental condition form is filled out prior to each rental and signed by the lessee stating that the...

boat is in good operation condition and any damage to the boat is noted on the sheet, as is customary like renting a car. The Beacons of Minocqua employee walked through the boat with [redacted] initialed next to all line items including line #1 which reads: I acknowledge receipt of all equipment listed on the checklist provided and that the propeller, skeg, and hull are satisfactory or duly noted. (See Attachment) No damage to the skeg was reported by either the boathouse attendant or [redacted]. The boat was taken out at approximately 1:30pm and returned at approximately 5:30pm. The boat was checked back in by maintenance personnel as the Boathouse Attendants shift had ended at 4:00pm. The maintenance staff member noticed damage to the skeg and noted it on the sheet. The maintenance staff member indicated to me that he was unsure if it was damage beyond repair or was repairable so he referred the matter to the Maintenance Supervisor. The Maintenance Supervisor confirmed the next morning that the skeg was damaged beyond repair and needed to be replaced. I checked previous rental sheets for that boat and no other damage was observed on previous pre-rental condition forms. Charging renters for damage done to the pontoons is not something any of us enjoy doing but we will not be responsible for damage sustained during the rental hence the contracts signed prior to rental. All signed contracts have been attached to this email. [redacted]
