I am responding to the listed complaint by Maureen ***Among other services, we do all kinds of clock repairNew, old, large and smallWe do house calls on grandfather clocksWe make one trip to the customer's home to remove the movement from it's caseWe then service the movement at our
storeOnce the work is completed, we return to the customer's home and reinstall the movementMs***'s clock is antique circa approxIt has a tubular chiming system which is auxiliary to the clock movementThe attachment will show that extensive work was performed on Ms***'s clock movementOverhaul = Disassembly, clean and oil movementPendulum Hanger = Missing mechanical parts, critical for the clock to run have been replacedRe-tooth Hubs = Ratchet gears critical for winding the clock have been restoredNew sweep second hand = A custom made hub was produced and an original style hand was createdAdjust, Pickup/Install = The restored movement was reinstalled into the case and the chiming mechanism was adjustedLastly, operating and regulating instructions were givenIn this process, the chime/strike systems were heard by our technician and Ms***All was good, and we were paidSeveral weeks later Ms*** called complaining about the clock chimesWe returned to her home and found her complaint was over the chime systemThe mechanical hammers that strike the chime tubes should strike and clearThe chime tubes vibrate when they are struck and on the long hour counts they may vibrate enough to cause a subtle double hitWe carefully and critically adjusted this part of her mechanismThis symptom or characteristic was explainedWe diligently followed through with Ms***s request for more adjustments, all the while confirming to her, the symptom is inherent to her clock's design and ageIndeed we returned promptly times sometimes the same day of the call to "tune" the chimes for Ms***'s sensitive earThe clock has never stoppedIt keeps good timeIt chimes and strikes correctlyThe clock needed extensive repairs, unrelated to the chime mechanism. We have been diligent and patient attempting to satisfy Ms***'s requestsWe have charged her a modest amount for the highly technical repairs and restorationAdjustment of a hammer hitting a tube is rather non-technical and well within our abilitiesMs*** should enjoy the character of her antique clockI am not willing to refund any of our charges for this job, as we successfully restored this antique clock at a very fair rateThe chiming system is a separate mechanism which is not serviceableWe have done hundreds of clock repairs each year for over yearsWe have have done everything with in our ability and went far beyond what the customer was billed for as we do for many of our customers in attempts satisfy Mrs***With our last visit I spent almost 2hrs as a last attempt to satisfy Mrs*** and had her verify prior to leaving that the clock was performing as expected and she confirmed that it was Sincerely, Jim ***

She is not pleased that the strike mechanism produces the occasional double hit. This mechanism is a separate component from the clock mechanism, and no maintenance was or needs to be performed on it. Therefore, no warranted on this component. We have adjusted this mechanism to perform as best as possible. Maureen [redacted]    Beall Jewelers has never successfully repaired my clock that is still under warranty. He refuses to repair or refund me any of my $750.00. Cris his son who tried to repair it said there was a warranty and gave me a receipt stating that. Mr. Beall states that I am not pleased that the strike mechanism produces an occasional double hit. It is constant, who would be happy with a clock that does not work and never did after spending $750.00. I feel lied to and ripped off by Beall jewelers     Maureen [redacted]
