The complainant ordered shoes from us and then tried to claim that the shoes were damaged before we sent them out to get a refund under premisesWe perform a visual inspection of every item before we send them out, and there were no defects to be foundAs our website clearly states, we cannot pay for return shipping due to order error which are not our fault, such as the customer improperly sizing their own feetWhen we informed the complainant of this, she said she was shipping the shoes back at her expense, in accordance with our policiesWe recently acquired the business from the previous owners and are still in the process of changing the website information to reflect the new ownershipWhen the complainant placed an order, an email macro containing the previous owner's address was sent out with her order confirmationThe problem has since been corrected, but our address for return shipping is clearly stated on our About Us page, our Shipping and Returns page and more importantly, directly on the package they receivedWhy the complainant thought it was a good idea to send the package back without verifying the address with us first, I have no ideaHowever, an accident of web design does not constitute malice aforethoughtThe complainant never contacted us to ask what address the item should be sent to, they simply assumed and shipped it to an address belonging to the previous ownersThe previous owners have since moved away, which meant the items were sent to a private residence from which we have no means to recover our stockFurthermore, the complainant waited to inform us of her shipping mistake until just before the 60-day window for issuing refunds though [redacted] had elapsed, leaving us with no means of refunding herIn conclusion, we will not pay for items we cannot recover and we are not responsible for the complainant's failure to perform the most basic research to ensure the safe return of their itemIf they had simply read the package or looked at the website, all this could have been avoided

Our website clearly states that we cannot accept shoe returns more than days after the customer receives themThe shoes were sent out more than a month after their receipt and to an incorrect addressWe updated the website and sent out the item in a clearly address, marked boxThe customer never contacted us to verify the return addressThat is their fault, not oursWe can't recover the shoes, so we can't issues the refundNo shoes, no refundThe incredible vapidity of the customer aside, we have had hundred of customers since we took over the business, and no one else was foolish enough to send items back without verifying the addressNO REFUND

The complainant ordered shoes from us and then tried to claim that the shoes were damaged before we sent them out to get a refund under false premises. We perform a visual inspection of every item before we send them out, and there were no defects to be found. As our website clearly states, we...

cannot pay for return shipping due to order error which are not our fault, such as the customer improperly sizing their own feet. When we informed the complainant of this, she said she was shipping the shoes back at her expense, in accordance with our policies. We recently acquired the business from the previous owners and are still in the process of changing the website information to reflect the new ownership. When the complainant placed an order, an email macro containing the previous owner's address was sent out with her order confirmation. The problem has since been corrected, but our address for return shipping is clearly stated on our About Us page, our Shipping and Returns page and more importantly, directly on the package they received. Why the complainant thought it was a good idea to send the package back without verifying the address with us first, I have no idea. However, an accident of web design does not constitute malice aforethought. The complainant never contacted us to ask what address the item should be sent to, they simply assumed and shipped it to an address belonging to the previous owners. The previous owners have since moved away, which meant the items were sent to a private residence from which we have no means to recover our stock. Furthermore, the complainant waited to inform us of her shipping mistake until just before the 60-day window for issuing refunds though [redacted] had elapsed, leaving us with no means of refunding her. In conclusion, we will not pay for items we cannot recover and we are not responsible for the complainant's failure to perform the most basic research to ensure the safe return of their item. If they had simply read the package or looked at the website, all this could have been avoided.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Again, I will reiterate what I have said before, and clarify a few details. Please see the attached document which has all of the email communications from Beanes Indian Clothing. The business sent an invoice to me with an address, that they now claim is not their address. I contacted Rachel several times before sending the shoes back to them, and I included a copy of the invoice, which had the return address that they now say is no longer their address. In all of the communications that I had with Rachel about my returning the shoes, she never said, oh, we have given you the wrong address on your invoice, you should log onto our website and go to our returns page to get our correct address. She just said to return the shoes, which I did, to the address listed on my invoice. In our communications, Rachel said that I had to return the shoes within 60 days for [redacted] to issue a refund. I also spoke with her on the phone (I have my phone log from [redacted] to show proof of this call), and she also said, it had to be sent back within 60 days. In her last communication here with me, she says her website states returns have to be made within 5 days, that is not what her website says, nor is it what she quoted me in an email. Clearly she is confused. It is their error for sending me an invoice with an outdated address, and their error for not saying that they made an error in sending me an invoice with an incorrect address and should mail the shoes to a different address. I followed her email instructions to mail the shoes back, and I have proof that I mailed them. It is not my fault that they gave me an outdated address for their company.
Regards,
[redacted]
