Beaumont Heights

I, *** & *** Jr. called landcaster conrwall apt. in Beaumont, TX to inquire about 2 bedroom availability. We were told that there was availability, and the management said to come fill out application right quick because they were about to close for the day and they would process it the next day on the 13th. We were told on Tuesday the 13th was that all we needed to do was bring 3 money orders filled out to landcaster apartments, one for a $250 deposit and two for $30 each application fee. We asked about the $250 deposit they wanted up front because they didn't even process our application yet. Mgr. response was the deposit was to hold the apt. for us because the availability was going fast. (no other reason was given) Mgr. never went over or explained anything on the application to us, we had no knowledge to their rules and regulations. So therefore, on Wednesday the 14th we were finally given a call and told our application was denied. So *** Jr. asked about our $250 deposit and to my surprise the management said we do not get a deposit back! I asked why and management response was we falsified information on the application. My response was no maam we didn't everything was honest and true on the application. The management response was because we left a blank on the application its considered falsifying to them (as I stated earlier in this complaint no one ever went over the application with us about any of their rules and regulations). And their other reason we were told we were not getting our deposit back was that because of our credit report didn't meet their standards. So they lure you into bringing them money for deposit and tell you it's only to hold your apartment but tell people they can't get their deposit back base on their specifics. That's not right that's stealing from the public. We live on a fixed income and have a 1yr old daughter and cannot afford to lose $250 that we should not have had to give in the first place because we were not even approved yet. Last but not least while we were in the office on Monday the 12th filling out our application for the apartment we heard one of the management person say that they were going to toss out someone's application and deny them and keep their money and we heard them say because their application was filled out with sloppy writing. We can testify to this.
