I have purchased braiding hair from Beauty Island several times. This day, I went to purchase the brand of hair I normally use to style my hair. While braiding my hair, I noticed that the hair seemed heavier than normal, but since it was in its' typical package I overlooked the abnormality. After 5 hours of braiding, I tested the hair in water and it did not straighten like expected. The hair became tangled and waxy. When I went to return the packages of unused hair, the owner already knew what was wrong and while I tried to find the correct type of hair, had prepared my refund because he knew that the type of braiding hair I ( and several others) needed was not in stock. I discovered that Beauty Island had repackaged the hair when I went to another beauty supply store and they were low on the same hair. Upon questioning a worker, I found out that there was a shortage of the braiding hair around the city. The other store had the exact same brand as Beauty Island, but was the texture I had expected. I will never patron Beauty Island again.

Review: The company charged my credit card twice and when I noticed the charges on my bank statement I clearly called and asked if I could bring it in and show them the transactions so that they could reverse the mistaken trasaction and they refused. Tried to blame my bank and say that they sent the payment through twice and there is no way that happened. They said there is no way they can run a card twice and thier clearly is because I've worked retail before all they did was change the trace number because you can't use the same one twice. I've had to cancel my credit card and now my account is frozen due to fraud on this company not wanting to reverse a mistake that I'm guessing is not a misstake anymore.Desired Settlement: I would like my money back plus an apology and for others to be made aware that they need to watch their statements when going to this store because there is some illegal activity going on and some people do not pay enough attention to their accounts to know when they are being taken advantage of.

We did refund this customer.

Review: On 9/6/13 I asked to exchange a defective product. I had the receipt and was within the 7-day time limit. I was yelled at, cursed at, and totally disrepected by the owners/managers. I was first told there was nothing wrong with the product. But once the owner plugged in the product it made a loud popping sound like I said it did. It was clearly a defective product. Then I was told they don't exchange electronics. I pointed out that my receipt did not list electronics as being excluded from exchange. Once I was given the exchange, I asked for my receipt. I was told by a owner/manager I could not have my receipt. I insisted on receiving a receipt. Once I was given my receipt I was cursed at by a owner/manager, and asked to get the h*ll out of his store. I called the police who heard both sides of the issue. I asked the police if I could peacefully protest in front of the store the following day. He said I could but wanted to put into place a no trespassing agreement so I could not go back into the store. I readily signed the agreement. The following day (9/7/13) I stood peacefully outside the store with a sign telling others how I was treated by the owners/managers. I was peaceful and orderly at all times. While there I was harassed by the owners/managers who called me ugly, stupid, a demon, and said I probabaly lived in public housing (I am a [redacted]). One of the owners/managers gave me the f-you finger, and told me he knows where I live and has my SSN. It was his attempt to provoke, intimidate, and bully me into leaving but I stayed put. I returned the following Saturday, 9/14/13, to continue my peaceful protest. The owners/managers called the police who came to the site and saw I was doing nothing wrong, and I was allowed to continue my peaceful protest.Desired Settlement: I would like an apology by the owners/managers of this store, both orally and in writing, in regards to the disrespectful way I was treated by them on both Friday, 9/6/13, and Saturday, 9/7/13. I would also like a commitment by the owners/managers to value their customers and treat them with the respect we deserve. I would like this commitment in writing and posted in a prominent place within the store. I estimate that about 90% of this store's customers are [redacted] such as myself. We deserve to be treated with dignity and respect in a place of business where we spend our hard earned money. A written commitment by this store to value and respect their customers will be a win-win situation for all involved.

Dear Revdex.com [redacted],

I am writing in regards of the complaint filed against Beauty Island. **. [redacted] was advised on the receipt all hair care products were not exchangeable and with the receipt she could call the company and get a new one since it not passed the one year warranty. We our a small business and it states on the receipt that we do not accept hair care products back and has to be returned to the manufacture and they would send her a new one. She began shouting and yelling and making customers leave our establishment because of screaming and yelling. We asked her many times to leave after giving her a brand new hair dryer because we were busy and didn 't want to deal with he outburst. The police were called and she was served with a no trespass by the police. She returned the following week and the week after. Her so call peaceful protest caused other people to come into the store and threaten me and my mom. The police were called told her she can protest but she can not block out door and instigate violence and was informed that the property manager was informed of the situation and was going to be served with a no trespass upon the entire property. Since then she has not came back fearing that she wouldn't be allowed back onto the entire property. She received a new product that I didn't have to give her because we do not accept product that are defected the company will rein verse her with a new one. I ask for the receipt back so I wouldn't loose money on the transaction and send it through the company and return a new one she refused to give it back. I ask her numerous times for her to leave we have signs ail over the store that states if you yell or scream you have to leave the establishment and she continue to yell all call us names and chase customers away. Until the police showed up they finally escorted her out the store and served her with a no trespass. If anyone owes an apology in this matter is **. [redacted]. For yelling and screaming after she got a new blow dryer. The hard working women that come into the store do not shout and yell and scream to get their way only 10% do and they can shop else where because yelling and screaming is not tolerated here.

Thank Vou,

Beauty Island

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

The response to my complaint is filled with inaccuracies and untruths. First of all my receipt does not say, as alleged in the business’s response, that “all hair care products were not exchangeable.” The receipt, which they did not want to return to me, clearly states what ite** are final sale. Those ite** are “wigs, ponytail, cosmetic, liquid chemical, jewelry, sale ite**, all hats, caps, leggins, scarfs, and shoes. The item I returned was a ceramic styler hair dryer. I returned it with my receipt within the 7-day limit for an exchange.

Secondly, once the business discovered the product was indeed defective, and provided me with an exchange for the defective product, the business did not want to return my receipt. This was totally unprofessional behavior for any business should know better than to expect a consumer to leave their store without a receipt. Even if the business expected me to use the warranty if anything was wrong with the exchanged product, I would still need a receipt to use the warranty. I would have to show proof of purchase, date of purchase, place of purchase, and price of purchase. I could not do this without a receipt, which is why I insisted that they return my receipt to me.

Thirdly, the business began yelling at me first. I had to raise my voice to be heard, and stand up for my rights as a consumer. Not once did I curse, but I was cursed at by one of the owners/managers. Nor did I call them names, as is alleged in the complaint. I was the one called demeaning names during my peaceful protest on Saturday, September 7th. I was called ugly, stupid, a demon, told that I probably lived in public housing, and given the F-you sign. I do have a witness who was inside the store at the time. She came outside of the store to let the owner/manager know that he should not speak to me in that manner because I had a right to protest. My witness was then yelled out and locked out of the store. The owner/manager then proceeded to give both of us the F-you finger.

The response also alleges that the police “escorted” me out of the door. This couldn’t be further from the truth. I called the police after being yelled and cursed at by the owner/manager. I willingly went outside of the store to wait for the police. The police decided to put the no trespassing agreement in place after I informed him of my plans to return the following day to protest in regards to the business’s unprofessional and unethical treatment of me. The police wanted to make sure I remained outside of the store, which I willingly agreed to do.

Also, my protest was peaceful as the police who came out to the premises on Saturday, September 14th witnessed. I had a sign, which the police read and saw nothing wrong with, and I stood peacefully next to the door. The police allowed me to continue my protest because I was doing nothing wrong. I was not blocking the door or instigating violence. I was peaceful and orderly at all times even though I was provoked and called names on Saturday, September 7th. The owner/manager tried his best to provoke, intimidate and bully me into leaving. He even told me he knew where I live and have my SSN number. I informed the police of this statement. If consumers decided not to shop at this business it’s because they read my sign and decided to take their business elsewhere. This is their rights as consumers.

Further, I have not once been contacted by the property manager in regards to my peaceful protest at this business. I have no fear of being banned from the property. I believed in standing up for my rights as a consumer even if it would mean being banned from this property. I would very much like to speak with the property manager, and inform them of this business’s unprofessional and unethical behavior. The fact that the owner/manager would call me demeaning names is simply unconscionable.

The response also says that “yelling and screaming is not tolerated here.” If that is the case, I suggest they follow their own policy and do not yell and scream at customers. It is not appropriate for them to yell, scream, and curse at customers, and expect us to take it. We deserve better treatment.

I adamantly reject this business’s response, and would like to move forward with my complaint.

Regards,

Business

Dear Revdex.com,

**. [redacted] was verbally abusive to the point customers ran out the stare terrified she disrupted our business and wouldn't leave after repeatedly told to get out. She didn't know the address so she had to step outside were we able to lock the door and let customers in by unlocking the door each time.

Usually the police officer would serve a no trespass verbally in front of an officer in extreme cases the have to write up a no trespass order if the person was being argumentative with the peace officer. She was arguing with the officer to the point he had to write up a summons. Then officer ask me to tell her not to come back to the location and she continue to verbally threaten and abuse me. I just walked away and went on with my day. Everything **. [redacted] has said is a lie and needs to learn to control her anger and emotions. You get more with sugar the vinegar and she was full of vinegar that day. I would like to close this matter. She not allowed here and now she is harassing us thru the Revdex.com. She received a new hair dryer and chased off customers and her protest caused people to threaten my mom and mine life. I hope this would be the last letter I receive I work six days a week I really don't have time to continue with these false allegations.

They did not read her sign and leave most of the customers said she is crazy., and I established a very good customer base in the area I have all the salons that are [redacted] owned in our community to back up my credibility not to mention all the military and government workers that come in here on a daily bases. I have never seen this woman before in my life till that day. If Revdex.com post these false allegations we have a civil lawyer on retainer and he will be more then oblige to protect us from the slander of [redacted]. I will have every loyal customer back me up and take legal action for harassment of **. [redacted]. She needs to get over it and go on with her life. I have over 100 customers and friends in the [redacted] comm unity to back up my credibility.

Sincerely, Beauty Jsland

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

This response, like the first response from this

business, is filled with inaccuracies. Further,

this response even contradicts some of the information the business

owner/manager provided in their first response.

In their first response, the business owner/manager

states that the police “escorted” me out of the store. As you can see in this response the business owner/manager admits

that I went outside the store on my own to get their address. This proves that their previous statement about

the police escorting me out of the store was an outright lie.

The response also states that I was “arguing with the

officer to the point he had to write up a summons.” This also could not be further from the truth,

and can be verified by the Fairfax County police department if necessary. Both times that the police came out to the

business (on Friday, September 6th and Saturday, September 14th)

I was orderly and peaceful. The only

reason the office put the no trespass agreement in place is because I informed

him I would be back the following day to protest in front of the business. I readily agreed because I had no intention

of ever going back inside the business anyway.

The business owner/manager states that I am now “harassing”

them through the Revdex.com. Obviously, the

business owner/manager does not know what harassment is. Harassment is the demeaning names the

business owner/manager call me during my peaceful protest on Saturday,

September 7th, I was called ugly,

stupid, a demon, told that I probably lived in public housing, and given the

F-you sign. This is true

harassment. Filing a complaint with the

Revdex.com is not harassment. It is a right of

any consumer to stand up for customer rights and seek resolution of a

complaint. It is an appropriate

mechanism to deal with disputes and promote professionalism, integrity, and

ethical practices within a business.

The business owner/manager also states in their response

that “we have a civil lawyer on retainer and he will be more then oblige to

protect us from the slander of **. [redacted].”

In my opinion threatening Revdex.com with a civil lawsuit, as the business

owner/manager appears to do here, is totally inappropriate and just goes to

show the mentality of this business. In my opinion the only slander that was committed

was by the business owner/manager who called me a demon, ugly, stupid, etc. Also,

during my peaceful protest on Saturday, September 14th, the

business/owner manager hung a sign on the front door of the business that

called me a crazy lady who had just gotten out of the nut house. Not only is this insulting to me personally,

but could also be insulting to people who really do suffer from mental illness,

and seek treatment in mental institutions.

In my opinion, mental institutions should never be referred to as “nut”

houses. The sign that I used in my peaceful protest was in no way personally insulting to the business. It only stated how I was treated. The police reviewed my sign and did not find anything inappropriate on my sign.

For the reasons above, I strongly reject the

business owner/manager’s response, and want to move forward with this

complaint. I will not be deterred by the

threat of a lawsuit, and would welcome the opportunity to let others know how I

was mistreated and disrespected in this place of business.
