Ms*** came in on 2-13-to have two key fobs programmed that she suppliedAt that time we added the recall for the brake lamp switchThe brake light switch was replaced during the recall, the key fobs she supplied were not correct and would not programShe declined to purchase the correct
onesOn 4-20-she came back in stating the cruise control is not working since recallWe had *** our master mechanic on duty that day spend several hours’ trouble shooting it at no charge to Ms***He checked the operation of the new switch as well as several components to the cruise control systemShe was waiting here for diagnosis so we took her out to the vehicle and showed here the tests we had completed and the fact the brake switch was workingThe brake switch was sending a signal to the ECU as designed however there was no signal from the ECU to the cruise control moduleIt appeared we had either a faulty ECU or an open/short in the wiringAt that time we were requesting more time and a fee of $to go further with diagnostics, as we had done our due diligence of double checking the brake switch and moreShe declined and said she was going back to her mechanic
I would ask Ms*** to provide Beaverton Kia with the information of who her mechanic is so we can discuss with him the specifics of the diagnostics he performedWe would also request the brake switch that the mechanic says he replacedIf we can verify that the switch failed then we may be able to go to Kia to request some assistance for Ms***

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
I feel that I must respond to the first part of your reply. I did go to the dealership (*** Beaveron Kia) first to have some key fobs programmed, at that time I was informed that the break switch needed to be replaced. According to the paperwork I have from the first visit the key fobs had a strong signal but they were unable to program them to the car. My complaint has nothing to do with this matter.
My complaint is about the brake switch and that it affected the cruise control on my car after it was replaced I did decline to pay a fee for you to diagnose my car further for a problem I believe you caused. I would be happy to have the part in question tested by a third party at the dealership’s expense. When I went back to them to fix the cruise control the technician told me the break switch had nothing to do with the cruise control. This statement is contrary to all of the research I have done about the recall. I do not think I would be getting a true and accurate diagnosis from them which is the reason I want a third party's diagnosis. I do not believe the dealership would be honest about their findings
I will be more than happy to have my mechanic get in touch with you so he may tell you the specifics of the work and diagnostics he performed on my car. I would also point out that I was not offered to be taken back by your technician to show me the car. I approached them due to the fact that the hood of my car with still up after they said it was ready. Going to talk about my car was never given to me as an option I took it upon myself to find out what was being discussed about the car
