Becker Professional Education

Becker only cares about money. They don't care if anyone actually passes their exams. There is so much material it is extremely difficult to get through the amount of material to fulfill the Becker Promise. They do this on purpose so the materials will expire and you will have to purchase their program again if you want to keep studying. I spent $3,573.87 on my materials and have nothing to show for it. I emailed customer service and they said they would reply in 48 hours. No one even responded because they care that little.
We are adults taking this exam with jobs, children, and other responsibilities. If all I had to do in my life was study then it wouldn't be a big deal, but the amount of time we have with materials for the price is unrealistic.
I got 18 months. All 4 exams must be passed in 18 months but a person is supposed to take 6-12 weeks to study. So purposefully there is at least 3 months that a person will be short of time to be able to study for these exams.

I was advised to use Becker CPA review by a coworker who had success with their program and was excited to hear of the "Becker Promise" that states:

"Our Promise? To provide you with the greatest opportunity to pass the CPA Exam by using our comprehensive CPA Exam Review and time-tested approach. If you utilize Becker but do not pass the CPA Exam, you may repeat our review course at no additional tuition cost (tuition waiver) if you satisfy our requirements."

I was told by the Becker CPA representative that I spoke to at *** University that if I did not pass a section of the exam that I took I would be able to extend my use of the software and purchase a new book. The book being due to the test in an almost constant state of change. Upon reading the "Becker Promise" above I felt this would be a good program.

I took the financial section of the CPA exam once and did not pass. I took the audit section of the exam twice and did not pass either time. This is 3 cycles of test preparation that showed no results.

When I inquired about the "Becker Promise" I was told I would need to pay the "current enrollment fee" of $299 per course in addition to the book costs. This is not what was discussed with the Becker rep, nor is this stated in "Becker Promise." I believe this to be an extremely deceptive business tactic and in my opinion, unprofessional.

Becker sold live-in class instruction for over $2k then canceled the classes with no notification to students. The licensing program is on a 18 month structure which has a very tight schedule for classes and examinations. I found out today the day that my CPA Financial class was supposed to start in San Francisco that the classes were canceled. This is absolutely unacceptable as they sold courses that are no being offered and have provided no communication and no credit to students. The only option is a webinar that is offered during my working hours which I am unable to take. Becker needs to resolve this issue immediately. The CPA calendar is on a 18 month clock so Becker is also effecting the ability to test timely and the risk of not meeting the timeline and having to start over in the testing period. They are selling professional instruction but offering sub-par services. I need to hear from someone who can resolve this immediately. I spoke to 3 different reps who said the classes were not canceled because I would have received a communication well in advance. The last representative confirmed that no communication was ever sent about my remaining 2 canceled classes. This is false advertising and fraud!

My experience with Becker Professional Education was good until I was required to download the new version of their software in March 2017. I was unable to login to their new course software due to a repeated error message requiring me to refresh the page. I called the Becker Customer Service phone line only to be deferred to someone else. A few days later, a tech support specialist reached out via e-mail to ask what was the issue with my login. I provided the specialist with all requested information, including screen shots of the error message. I never heard back with a resolution. I attempted to contact Becker again via e-mail, but was ignored. My license expired about a month after I requested assistance and I feel my needs were ignored as my license was expiring relatively soon. Please keep in mind that even if you purchase this license, you may not have access to all of Becker's tools. Be prepared for your study sessions to require internet.

I signed up to take Becker's CPA course, which was over $3,000.00, in 2015. Shortly after enrolling, I advised them that I would be unable to take the course because of medical issues, and asked for my enrollment to be placed on hold until I was healthy enough to complete the course. They said there was no way to do that in their system. At the time, because of my medical issues, I was unable to inquire further. I am now ready to take the course, and I asked that they allow me to take it without charging me beyond the cost for any books already shipped. They requested medical documentation, which I provided. They then said they were unable to allow me to take it without paying the cost charged to former students who have already taken the course. Given the situation, I believe this is unfair, as it is a minimal additional cost for them to allow one additional student to enroll in a section, and I have not yet taken the course. Being a recently graduated law student, I also do not have the money to repay for the course.
