I am rejecting this response because:The business did state that they took responsibility for the damage at the time that we picked the boat upThe boat is not stored on a concrete slab in the facility, but rather a dirt floor, which would explain the lack of having a straight line in the scratches/damage that was causedThe boat was in excellent condition with the Larson decals intact when it was brought to the storage facilityThe scratches are all left to right and not up and downThe only time we were asked for pictures of the damage was after the estimate was sentThe boat was not examined by the storage facility employeesIt is understandable that there was a high level of customer traffic that dayThat also would explain the difficulty in remembering the conversation regarding committing to pay for the damagesIf no fault was acknowledged we should not have been asked to provide an estimate for repairsIf this matter cannot be resolved we are prepared to take this to small claims court where we will ask for the damages, the storage fee, court costs, and reimbursement for the time we have had to spend chasing this issueAgain, we are happy to have a representative from the business come out and take a look at the boat again or we can resend picturesWe are not attempting to have damage that we caused paid for, and any insinuation to the contrary is extremely insulting
I am sorry about this misunderstanding I did not admit it was our fault and did not say we would pay for the damages I did say to get an estimate and we would see what we could do I really did not have time to examine the boat at the time because we were very busy with the
other customers that came in that day Afterward I asked to send pictures and after examining the pictures I determined that the damage could not have been caused by us If we damage a boat, it will only be on one side and be straight horizontal lines caused by the boat being rubbed against another boat We push the boats in and out with a tractor The damage in question was many multiple scratches and gouges on both sides of the boat and they were vertical, curved, horizontal and all other angles This is typically caused by a boat being tied to a dock and the wave action causes this from the boat rubbing against the dock I suspect this is what happened in this case I do not have a problem taking responsibility for damage we cause but in this case I am being asked to pay for something that is not of our doing
