Beckett & Associates Veterinary Services Reviews (1)

My husband and I took our pomeranian to get fixed at Beckett. We purchased a voucher online through the Friends of Animals foundation for $90. Beckett participated in this program, so we contacted them and set up an appointment. My husband was told that post-op pain meds would cost $13. I am in the legal field, and read the contract. It says that day-of post op meds were included, so I called to clarify. I was basically treated (and it was implied) that I didn't care for my dog or her well-being, and that I only wanted to save a buck by having Beckett fax a prescription for generic pain meds to our primary vet. We have a german shepherd who was fixed at our primary, and the generic meds worked just fine and he seemed to be in no pain. Aside from being harassed on this point, the day of surgery at drop-off, my husband was told that it would be $40 for the pain meds. The obvious disparity between $13 and $40 did not escape us, and we brought it to their attention. They said that they would have to contact Friends of Animals because they typically do not provide any pain meds with that program (but its in the contract, which they agreed to!!). I had called at 9am to ensure that the prescription would be faxed to our primary so my husband could pick it up before he picked up Foxy, and come to find out, the Dr was "busy" and couldn't approve it until after he had to pick up our baby. Convenient. He then had to take our POST-OP dog to our primary to pick up pain medication. They were also visibly upset when he brought a cone he got for $9 as opposed to their cone they wanted him to buy for $16.
Regardless, we felt like we were treated differently because we purchased this voucher and Beckett made no money off of us. My husband stated that upon pick-up, our dog was basically shoved at him, and he was told that she might be sleepy and if she encounters any complications, to make sure to see our "primary vet." Clearly, they don't want us back because they made no money out of us and we called them out on trying to breach a clause of a contract. I'm uncomfortable that our dog underwent surgery when this vet office clearly was biased against us from the moment they found out we had purchased the voucher and wouldn't be paying retail. When I called to say as much, the front desk associate pretended to be understanding, while firmly denying all of the above (stating that she had been there from the moment of drop-off to the moment of pick-up and that no one had treated us with disrespect). I informed her that my husband and I both make over 100k/year, and that money wasn't the issue. We would just rather not pay retail price if we can pay less (makes for more vacations, anyone??), and do not like being lied to or made to feel as though we don't care about our dog because we want to purchase the medication through our primary vet.
