RE: [redacted]

On September 11, 2013, [redacted] brought in his 2000 Kenworth Truck to have damages repaired and the frame straightened. Based on the description given by [redacted], he asked for an approximate cost for repairs. We advised that we couldn't give him an exact quote without getting into the depths of the damages but that a safe starting point was $1,500. All of this was verbal correspondence. As we began the process for the requested repairs, we were able to diagnose the damages more specifically. We found that the crack in the frame was not in the location as [redacted] believed; it was adjacent to repairs previously made. We contacted [redacted] about our findings and he approved the repairs. To fix the new damages of the cracked frame, we were required to cut out a segment that included a portion of the previous repairs, in addition, it removed one of the motor mounts. We advised [redacted] that the motor mounts were worn and broken. When contacted about this, he said he did not want any repairs done relevant to this problem. Within the same week, [redacted] brought in new motor mounts and spring bushings and asked that we install them accordingly.

[redacted] states we lacked in contacting him but due to the almost daily contact made by [redacted] or his father-in-law, there was no need for us to initiate further contact. Each time they would check on the status of the repairs, we gave them a step-by-step update of the damages found and the repairs being performed. Each time, we were given approval to proceed the parts get ordered or determined he would bring them in to us. At no time did [redacted] say that we were to stop with the additional repairs needed from our findings as we spoke with them in person and over the phone through each step of this progress. [redacted] states in his complaint that we are not permitted to increase his estimate without written authorization. He did not request a written estimate. All additional repairs were done at his verbal request along with him providing us the parts beyond his initial request.

Upon completion of the repairs, [redacted] inspected the repairs. He stated that he was unhappy with the repair. The current owner of Bee Line inspected the areas repaired by our employees. It was determined that the area of complaint was the bracket of the broken motor mount that he did not want us to replace. After explaining this to [redacted] and assessing the remainder of the repairs, he said he was good with the repairs.

Although [redacted] said he was good with the repairs, he complained about pay9ing for a these repairs. As a means of having a satisfied customer, we reduced our standard labor rate and removed 5 hours from the labor time. Once receiving this reduction and with the proper paperwork in hand were able to remove the taxes associated with this bill reducing it almost $2000.

[redacted] wrote us a check for $2000 at the time he picked up his truck from the repairs. He stated that he needed to get the truck back on the road and collect on a few more jobs then would be in to pay the balance of the bill. After a couple weeks had passed, I called [redacted] and he asked if we had spoken with the previous owners to have them pay for a portion of this bill. Approximately a week later, I received the call from Revdex.com.

Since [redacted] has failed to comply with final payment in full within the following week of redeeming is vehicle, we are seeking payment in full from the original invoice of $6062.66 less the tax exempt portion of $443.89 and less the $2000 paid on 10/2/13 leaving a final balance due of $3,618.77. Without full resolution to these charges, we are seeking a judgment in small claims court for balance, late fees, and all court fees associated with this matter. We believe we are operating ethically and in compliance to the State requirements per RCW 46.71 abd its subsections; specifically relevant to RCW 46.71.025 and 46.71.031.
