Beginner Steps Daycare

As a parent to date it seems like the positive reviews are given directly to the daycare and those parents that were with the daycare for a period of time and decided to leave without payment call the owner all kinds of names. Funny since I was at Beginner Steps Daycare at the same time and witnessed parents leaving and not wanting to follow the signed contract. Something that is not even a second thought at the daycare centers as most require a one month cancellation fee. These same parents go from enjoying quality care, birthday parties for all the children, gifts, babysitting on a regular basis, having education and nutritional food to saying the owner is just the opposite. I believe it is not only some of the children that need to grow up. We love Beginner Steps Daycare, my child is loved while I am at work which makes my job much easier.

Review: Beginner Steps Daycare LLC (BSD) unjustly terminated my contract and refused to issue a refund of the two month deposit after providing only one days service. On February 20, 2013 we signed a contract with [redacted], the owner and operator of BSD in Stamford, CT to provide daycare services starting in August 2013 and paid a 2 month deposit of $2,800. The week prior to starting, my sons medical records were provided to BSD during a 3 hour visit with my son and BSD was notified of his [redacted], a common occurrence in infants. August 12, 2013 was the start date of the daycare services and at pick up a letter was presented to my husband notifying us that our contract was being terminated due to the [redacted], stating that notice of a medical condition was not provided prior to start date, and that BSD was not comfortable with caring for him because they did not have a nurse on staff. BSD never attempted to contact the only authorized parties to discuss my son; his parents and pediatrician. Instead [redacted] consulted her own doctor and lawyer. She offered to provide daycare for one month so we could seek daycare services elsewhere. We felt it was in our sons best interest that he did not return to BSD until we could discuss her concerns. Over the next few days we made several attempts to discuss the matter during a mutually agreeable time but [redacted] was non responsive to our phone calls and attempts to schedule a meeting. She would only respond via email and text message, which is when she notified us that the two month deposit was not to be refunded. After several days, I was able to pick up my sons belongings and [redacted] approached me. During our discussion she said that her past practice was to return half of the deposit when a medical condition caused termination of services, and she agreed to return half of the deposit. After a week, I followed up with [redacted] on when to expect the refund and received a text stating that she refused to issue the agreed upon refund.
