Being Fit Fitness Center

Review: My husband bought a one month membership as a gift to me for Christmas last year. He did not authorize further credit card charges to his account. Being Fit continued to charge his credit card monthly until his card expired. Then the buisness proceeded to charge him past due fee's and ultimately took me to collections for 100 dollars eventhough my husband is the one that signed the contract and supplied the payment. I went to the buisness and dealt with the owner directly and he said he would settle the debt at 50 dollars and offered me an additional three free months of membership. I clearly pointed out that the contract was only for a month and he dismissed me and said I had to cancel it. I never activated this membership nor did I [redacted] sign any document making me responsible for payment. My Husband signed the document and supplied his credit card information but put my name as the gym member. The contract clearly stated that a $0.00 amount was to be charged monthly because it was only for one month. I followed up with the collection company and I was informed that I still owed 50 dollars of intrest eventhough Being Fit told me my debt was settled and paid in full. I contacted Being Fit and they could not locate my file for further resolution. The owner was not in so the Shift Manager said she would contact me and follow up with the credit card company when my information could be located. Now my credit is at stake and I am being charged fee's for a service I did not ask for nor did I recieve because my husband thought he was purchasing a one month membership as a gift.Desired Settlement: I want my account settled with Being Fit and reflected with the collection company.

Review: On July 15 I went to the Mira Mesa Being fit to join the fitness center and was surprised to find both a $20 application fee and a $20 enrollment fee in addition to my prorated monthly fee. When I attempted to negotiate these fees with [redacted], he offered to wrap one of the fees into the payment, but the end result over 12 months was I would pay more over time for the fee rather than addressing whether or not it's even viable. When I asked him if he would waive the enrollment fee he said "if I did that for you I'd have to do that for everyone else". I responded, "no you wouldn't" and he stood up and said "I don't think this is the gym for you." I left.

I EMailed the Gym that day and on July 17 received an EMail from one [redacted] Moonie who attempted to explain the fees. On that same day I EMailed [redacted] a copy of a public advertisement which states "no enrollment fee" and asked if he would extend that to me.

I never received a response even though I sent a follow-up EMail on the 19th, then again on the 25th, and finally on the 31st, informing [redacted] if he did not respond I would have no choice but to file with the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: My guess is the senior/owning management of the fitness club does not know what their associates have done. I want to ensure they know what has happened and are made aware of the EMail correspondence. While I might consider joining the club if individuals like [redacted] and [redacted] are not a part of it, I cannot in good mind join a club that employs individuals who behave in such a fashion.
