I had a leak in my ceiling from our stand-in shower adjacent to our main bedroom. Our insurance co. contacted Belfor to conduct a demo on the shower, repair the area leaking and replace the tile. The adjuster who came out informed us originally the job would take two-three weeks to complete; it ended up taking well over two months. The original price quoted to us was not accurate and came out to over a thousand dollars more than first quoted. The adjuster stated that he showed me the paper work displaying the final amount earlier, which he never did, nor did I receive a check as he said I was supposed to from American Integrity Ins. to cover the difference. So, I wrote him a check only for the original amount of money that the insurance company provided, and was told they would said me an additional check which covers the rest of the cost. I don't know why I would receive the check covering the difference if the insurance agency could just send it to Belfor, but that was what I was told. However, I never saw it.
During the time of the restoration, I was told on four occasions that the workers would be out a certain morning, only to be told the morning of that they couldn't make it and would have to re-schedule. On one occasion, I never received a notification at all and the guy simply did not show up. I called to inquire his status and was finally called back over three hours later and informed he wasn't coming due to some personal issues. When he came a couple days later, he left without finishing or saying anything and I was never informed on when the job would be completed. Tile, dust and glass doors were left sitting in my bedroom for more than a week. I called asking for a follow up and heard nothing. More than a week passed and I then called my insurance adjuster from American Integrity to complain and ask for a follow up. I never received a call back and the next day the adjuster from Belfor texted saying the workers would be out that week to finish.
After finally completed the work, I noticed the decorative tile in the shower had strips that were placed in backwards. I asked to have it re-placed or switched around and was told that they could not find that tile anymore and would need completely new tile. I informed them that I wanted it removed since it was backward and replaced with a similar tile and miraculously, they found the same tile within the hour. The worker also wanted to test the new shower head , but forgot to put the shower pipe back on, so consequently, the water ran directly down the back of my wall and through the ceiling. In the end, there was no final inspection and the mirrors from my barroom were left in my bedroom. I eventually put them back myself and was glad to be done dealing with Belfor. The organization from this company was atrocious, and the communication even worse. I would not recommend them and I only give them a one star rating because I have no choice.
