Review: I was directed by emergency room to follow up same day with this office. The office told me to come directly after leaving the ER. upon my arrival at their beaver location, I asked about my co-payment for my insurance. I explained that this was the first time using this insurance. I was informed by the woman checking me in that if I was not aware of the amount of my co-payment that they would bill me. I received a bill in the mail with a $5 surcharge for non-payment of co-pay at time of service. I called to discuss this with their billing department. [redacted], at the billing office informed me that her supervisor would not allow her to remove the $5 surcharge. She also informed me that I would be receiving a second bill with another $5 surcharge for my appointment the following week. I questioned [redacted] as to why there is even a charge for the second appointment because it was a follow-up appointment set by Dr, [redacted]i. She informed me that because there was no procedure performed in the office, that it is not considered a follow-up appointment. I explained that I did not request an appointment for the following week and I was not informed of a $5 surcharge. She said there was nothing they could do an I am responsible for the bills.Desired Settlement: I am requesting that the $5 surcharge for both dates (12/20/2013 and 12/27/2013) be removed from my bill. I also request that the $35 office visit charge be removed from my bill as well. I do not have a problem paying the $35 office visit for my first visit. In the future, the staff in the office should inform new patients of the co-pay surcharge and follow-up office visit charge requested by the doctor.
