After much tribulation and having to get a lawyer involved, I have finally received my security deposit 13 days after the allotted 30-day time period.  By national real-estate law, if the 30-days is surpassed there’s a $200 penalty owed to the lessee.Though I am satisfied to receive my, deserving, full deposit. My complaint against this company still stands. And I agree with my lawyer, that based on their approach to this situation it’s Soniat Realty’s standard course of action is to retain part or all of a tenant’s deposit to offset the costs of transitioning to a new tenant. And that is NOT right, that is their job and NOT the responsibility of the previous tenant. I have seen not only a lack of competence in this company, but a lack of principle and uprightness as well. I will never use this company again under any circumstance, and will suggest others not to as well.

[redacted]. Our records had her name listed as [redacted]. She did originally pay a $750 securitydeposit but $350 of that deposit was already refunded to her on 11/21/17. She claimed to be disputingsecurity deposit deductions of S250 for cleaning and $125 for the removal of a satellite dish. The actualdeductions were $250 and $150, respectively, totaling $400. Those were standard deductions that weused based upon our property manager's findings.After receiving your letter, we did review the situation and discussed with our manager, [redacted]
[redacted] lt is our understanding that Ms. D[redacted] was a resident in the building prior to us taking overmanagement and the current owner did not own the property when Ms. D[redacted] moved into the property.Therefore, we don’t have any prior photos of the property condition or any information as to whether 0not the satellite dish was or was not on the property when she moved in. As a result ofthese findings,we agreed to refund Ms. D[redacted] the remaining $400 and that check was sent out on 11/29/17. She shouldhave received it by now.At this time there is no further amount due to Ms. D[redacted] and we ask you to close this case andprovide us confirmation that you have done so.If, however, you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

not received any of the $750 security deposit, despite [redacted] reassurance on 11/29/17 that she OK’d a check for the full deposit to go out that day. I’m unsure of [redacted] Soniat’s claim of two separate checks, they go against my communications with [redacted] – but regardless I have yet to receive any of the deposit. I have attached my communications with [redacted] below for reference on the matter.[redacted] Soniat’s reply is unsatisfactory, due to the fact the deposit has yet to be returned. Thank you for your efforts with this case, I really appreciate it.
