Our Birthday party package last around 2 hours to 2 1/2 hours. The party package includes 1 hour timed bowl and 1 hour at the table for pizza and cake. We ask when scheduling how many children will be bowling and I do a head count of bowlers and set the table as the children are bowling. We try to not rush parties, and for the most part most parties do leave in that time frame. They are only charged for the children that bowl, if they advise 15 kids and only 5 show we have held lanes to accommodate 15, but only charge them for the ones that show. A table for the children is set up while the kids are bowling, and We supply a birthday table cloth matching plates and napkins for the kids and we leave cups, plates for cake and forks along with extra napkins for the entire group. They are still only charged for the children that bowl and for any extra food or soda that is ordered. Party tables are never preset, and they are only guaranteed a tables for the kids. If there are extra guests we try to get tables to accommodate the group and if the extra guests want to bowl they are charged an hourly rate for bowling and for their shoes.
On Sunday, April 6th, we had a few parties scheduled. 1 about 12 noon, 1 about 2:30 pm and the [redacted]'s at 3 pm. The 1st party came in had about 10 kids and they did the bowling and party, they had a few extra adults. and stayed a little longer waiting for kids to be picked up. I did not rush them off the area because the next party was not scheduled at that table until 3 pm.
The second party came in they had scheduled for 15 kids ended up with around 20 kids and had an extra lane of 2 adults and 3 kids and the extended family the party was closer to 35 to 40 or probably more they were everywhere and seemed to be growing larger every time I turned around.
At about 20 minutes past 2 pm the [redacted] party came in. I remember because I looked at the clock on my phone and I commented to them...Wow you're early, really early. When I got back to the counter my assistant who helps me set up parties, helps cleans up and makes pizza's went home sick. Not ideal planning but I was trying to keep it under control.
The clock was ticking away fast. The lanes for the 2:30 party was set with a timer...60 minutes. While they were getting set I was pulling up bumpers setting their party and trying to get back to the [redacted] party which was also growing. I managed to get one of the guys from the counter to help me flip the party table and I told them I would be back shorty when I got the other groups pizza started. As the 1st of the pizza's were cooking for the 2nd group, they order more pizza's. I have 5 pizza ovens and was running from one end of the alleys to the next with soda's and pizza's.
I had totally lost track of time.
The counter guy found me in the kitchen area and said asked if I had gotten the pizza order for the [redacted]'s and I said no, I was making more pizza's for the 2nd group, they had just ordered more pizza's and sodas.
Once the 2nd groups pizza's were done, everything calmed down, [redacted] the counter guy had taken over the [redacted] party and was getting their pizza and soda's out.
I really am sorry for Ms. [redacted]'s unfortunate experience, I have been doing birthday party's at our former location and now at The Lanes on 20 for about 20 years. I don't ever remember a day getting so crazy all at the same time.
I am sure there is nothing that can be done or said to make Ms. [redacted] happy. I hope she will someday give us another chance to earn her business but understand if that never happens.
Ms. [redacted] made a comment that she could not believe her party area was not ready and waiting for her, but we do not have area space to hold an area for an entire afternoon. Party areas are reset for multiple groups in a day.
