The garment industry relies on tape measures, not scales, because body measurements determine how a dress fits. It is our policy as professional wedding stylists...

not to comment on weight, but to observe when measurements have changed. Weight can be redistributed into unexpected measurements, even with an overall loss. Furthermore, we took her measurements each time she returned to the store, and those measurements continued to increase at each visit.
Our trained bridal specialists take measurements with accountability in mind. We measure openly in our store so that brides have the advantage of their family and friends seeing how the measurements are taken and voice concerns if they arise. Her measurements were taken by the store's assistant manager, a person who verifies other consultants' measuring, making her qualified to take these measurements.
Our team will make size recommendations based on where the bride's measurements fall on the designer's size chart. Our contract clearly says, "The final decision on size is up to you, you know your body best". Every customer is instructed to order whatever size she feels most comfortable with and is given a size chart provided by the designer to help make that decision.
The claim that the measurements were "3 inches larger in each dimension" is a gross exaggeration. While that increase is true of her hip measurements, her bust measurements increased by 1.5 inches overall, and waist increased by 1.75 inches. Furthermore, measuring 3 inches too small in every dimension would be nearly impossible as it would have been extremely uncomfortable for the person being measured. A 3-inch difference in the waist would have made it very difficult to breathe, and 3 inches too small in other dimensions would have been obviously noticeable.
Fitted dresses can restrict movement when they fit properly. The cut of the dress she chose (fitted through the hips and thighs) does restrict movement in its nature, even when perfectly fitted. Wedding gowns often have structure and weight that may make them less comfortable than expected depending on the individual's preferences. When a dress closes properly and a bride can walk and sit in it, it is sized correctly. In this case, the dress did zip at all of her fittings, and she sat down in the dress, as witnessed by our store manager, seamstress, and operations assistant. Despite an appropriate fit, the dress was let out to help her feel more comfortable.
We have upheld every aspect of our contract: The style, color, and size that the bride ordered arrived in an appropriate amount of time as promised in the contract. Given the nature of special order gowns, all sales are final. The contract clearly states, "refunds, exchanges, or credits are not permitted on any merchandise or transactions". We cannot return dresses once they have been ordered (which is clearly stated in our contract: "once the order is placed with the manufacturer, no changes or cancellations will be accepted"), and altered garments can never be returned.
We went above and beyond our contract to do everything we could to help her find a suitable solution. We tried to help her find an alternative dress since she did not like the one she ordered. She ordered another dress from another store, and then began demanding a full refund.
When our generous offer was not accepted, she began to smear our name as much as possible, threatening lawsuits, and having family and friends (who have never been to our store) to write negative reviews on Yelp and Facebook.
Her dress is available to be picked up from our store. Per our contract, she has until 9/13/16 (10 days after her wedding date) to pick up her dress. If she has not picked it up by then, she forfeits it to the store.
