Review: Purchased a 2004 Toyota Tacoma from them a few months ago via [redacted]. [redacted] discription said no rust and I asked [redacted] just to make sure, and he said that there was only surface rust on the frame and they had removed it and sprayed it with a protective coating. I had the truck for about 3 months when the frame cracked completely through in two places. I contacted my insurance and they had it taken to an auto body shop. Upon inspection and removal of the protective coating the insurance company found that the frame had been patched in multiple places and was completely rusted out.
I had a car fax pulled and this truck was a one owner truck in which Bellat purchased from a local Toyota dealership when they took it in on trade. I contacted [redacted] about this and he claimed he didn't know about the rust. I asked the auto body shop and they said that whoever coated the frame would have known about the rust and the patch work. My insurance company wouldn't cover anything because they said it was fixed incorrectly with the frame patching.
[redacted] later admitted that he had done the patch work but wouldn't refund any of my money or do anything to make the situation right. It is estimated to cost $2700-$3000 to get this fixed by a local mechanic using a used frame and would be $6500-$7000 from a Toyota Dealer. If he had told me the truth about the rust I would not have bought the truck. I am afraid that he is doing this with all of the trucks that he is selling on [redacted]. Picking them up cheap at auction because of the rusted frames and then covering an unsafe frame with a protective coating to make it so an average buyer wouldn't know any difference when they buy an unsafe vehicle.Desired Settlement: Ballet should have to cover the entire cost of the frame replacement.
