Patrick at Bellbrook Fence is awesome. We had our aluminum fence installed 6 years ago by another company. This winter, the latch mechanism failed. After calling the installing company numerous times and never getting a call back, I called Bellbrook Fence. Within 10 days the latch was replaced. As a bonus, the latch had a lifetime warranty (which I did not know), so it didn't cost us anything. I appreciate their promptness and professionalism. Bellbrook Fence is now my number 1 fence professional. Thanks.

We had many issues getting our fence and gate installed. The gate opener was not installed correctly and they refuse to fix it.
We hired Bellbrook fencing to install a fence with gate and opener. We had many issues getting it installed, including delayed start, stopping midway, and did not communicated with us for weeks at a time, to the point, we went to their offices to make sure they were still in Business and find out what was going on. After much hassle, they finally gave us a small discount.

They installed a sensor pad under our driveway to open the gate. After less than a month, it stopped working after someone drove over it. We contact them and they refused to honor their warranty. We explained that the manufacturer says to install it 3-4 inches underneath the driveway and that typically it is under asphalt or cement. Bellbrook fence did not recommend or tell us we needed to cover this pad with any additional material than out gravel drive way. They installed it at one inch under the gravel driveway. They said the manufacturer was wrong and refused to honor the warranty. They said they would come out to give us an estimate to have it repaired at our expense. I requested they come and give us that estimate. That request was made to *** the manager. He told me they would be out in the next few days. They have not sent some one yet. We have call repeatedly. We have left messages with the office staff and no calls are being returned.

Desired Outcome

We would like the gate opener fixed or replaced promptly.

There were several delays with the installation of the fence that were outside of our control (supplier delays) that did cause an inconvenience to the customer. Those delays were addressed with the customer and a Significant Discount was applied to the final invoice.
The problem in question has nothing to do with faulty installation. The vehicle detection loop was installed correctly. This is a direct burial loop system that can be installed in gravel, asphalt, concrete, ect. Where the loop was damaged was the "Lead-In", It was buried in the gravel and encased inside a protective conduit. The vehicle detection loops was cut by someone grading the area with a Bobcat excavator. We are not responsible for the damage caused by someone digging/grading in the area with a piece of heavy equipment. Until the damage by the bobcat, the loop system and the operator were working according to design.
The Customer called in and said there was a "warranty issue" with the gate operator. Our Operations Manager went to the site and met with the head grounds keeper. We explained that damage caused by a bobcat was not a warranty issue. The grounds keeper did indicate that the operation of the gate was not being impacted by the damage.
We have not received any other contact from the customer since that visit back in October.

In rebuttal to response from Bellbrook Fence:
While it is true the the pressure plate was damaged in relation to a small bobcat, it was when the bobcat drove over it. It was working in a nearby area, however, the wires appeared to be pulled out, not severed as they would be if the bobcat had cut them when digging. The bobcat driver reports he was driving over the area, as it is part of my driveway when it happened. When I came to see it the wires were sticking up as if they had been pulled out, there was no signs of it being sliced as it would be if it had been cut.
***, the manager from Bellbrook fence came out and evaluated it. He stated this was due to heavy machinery working in the area and thus not covered by the warranty. I discussed with him that the pressure exit plate was not installed to the manufactures recommended a depth of at least 4 inches. He told me that installing it to 4 inches would make it not work. He then told me these kind of pressure plates are normally installed under asphalt or concrete to protect them. It was never recommended to me that we cover this pressure plate with asphalt or concrete at anytime during the initial evaluation, it was not in the estimate Bellbrook Fence provided for the job, or at anytime before we reported the damage to the exit plate to Bellbrook Fence. It also does not make sense that if installing the pressure plate at 4 inches would mean it was covered by to much weight, but installing it under asphalt or concrete would not be to heavy.
When *** informed me that he would not deem this related to the warranty, he offered to have someone come out and give me an estimate of the cost of the repair. I told him I wanted him to give me that quote. No one from Bellbrook fence has ever come by to give us a quote on the repair. Both my farm manager and I have placed multiple phone calls to Bellbrook fence to try to get them to provide the quote and to attempt to further discuss that this damage was due to inadequate depth of the installation and that if it had been properly installed it would not have happened. I have not received any response from Bellbrook fence regarding quote or any further discussion of the cause of the damage. Bellbrook fence had multiple delays during the original installation of the fence and through that process they had such poor communication we had to have our farm manager go to their offices to get any response from them.
Since *** made his post incident visit, I have had two union electricians evaluate the installation and they both have stated the pressure plate should have been installed at least 4 inches and likely it should have been at 6 inches. In the opinion of both of these electricians, the cause of the damage to the pressure plate was the inadequate depth of the installation and that this damage could have happened with any vehicle driving over the pressure plate.
Since this complaint was filled with the Revdex.com, the front gate openers have stopped working. We have made sure there is power to the panel, but nothing happens when one pushes the open or close buttons. We have called Bellbrook Fence, but continued to get no response. We have had no equipment working on our land. It just stopped working. We have not heard back from Bellbrook Fence about this issue either.

I understand the customers frustrations and am willing to come out and inspect the gate operator personally.
There does seem to be some confusion with what we are talking about. There is no "pressure plate" this is a vehicle detection loop. It uses a magnetic field to detect the presence of metal objects. When the wires were pulled/disturbed and the protective conduit was broken this more than likely caused the complete failure of the vehicle loop system rendering it inoperable. It was installed per the manufacturer guild-lines for direct burial loops.
I am not sure if this has caused a failure in the operator, but I would be happy to look.
But to reiterate our position on this matter, this is not a warranty issue. If an outside party caused damage to an installed system we are not going to be held liable. From the pictures that were presented to me, the blade of a bobcat crushed a protective conduit and pulled the "lead-in" wires of a direct burial loop out of the conduit and the ground. There is no repair in that. It can only be replaced.

We decided to not go with a fence. It was a bit more expensive than we thought for ornamental but I have to say my experience with Bellbrook was above and beyond. Darren the man that came out to give me an estimate was very knowledgeable and pointed out things and options I never would have though about. He told me what to watch out for with other companies. I had other estimates and he was able to spot a red flag which turned out to be true. He had worked with several vendors to get me exactly what I wanted and at a good price. I greatly appreciate the professionalism and dedication to the customer. Once we are ready to move forward I will be going with Bellbrook fence. Thanks Darren
