May 9, 2016Dear *** ***:As she states, our customer did arrive on April with a man she introduced as her husbandMy partner, Bob met them, showed them the fourth floor room and gave them two sets of keysThat room has a bathroom in the hall, which is assigned to the exclusive use of the
tenant occupying itAfter a little discussion, she said that she was staying alone in the room as she was in town for a "girls' night out', and her husband would be leavingOur advertising literature states that one of the hosts is fluent in French so she requested to meet me as she is studying French and would like to speak with me in that languageI was not in that night so could not meet her.The following evening April 30, at 7:PM we received a guest staying in the first floor room, which has an en suite bathroomHe was a middle aged businessman from Paris attending a week long conference at the convention centerHe arrived a little late, and I had just finished cooking dinner, but had not yet eatenAs we conversed in French, asked if he had had dinnerHe had not so invited him to dine with usHe acceptedThe dinner conversation was entirely in French, and although Bob does not speak it he is quite adept at understanding it.After a while, I am not sure it was around 9:PM, but it may have been, Bob remembered the 4th floor customer and said she may enjoy joining us because of her request the previous day, So he went up to invite herHe came back saying that she had declined as she was reading, and we never thought anymore about itShe states that he asked if the man who accompanied her the previous evening was her boyfriend, but he assures me that this is not the case, because, as she said herself, why would he since she had already introduced him as her husband. When we broke up for the evening, again I am not sure what time it may have been; (our conversation was completely enjoyable and I was not watching the time), I walked our first floor customer back to his room as remembered had not showed him how to operate the space heater in the roomI did so and wished him a good night and left him there. The next morning saw that I had received a call at 2:AM, which of course missed as I was asleepWhen I called the number it was our customer who told me the story she reported to youWhen she told me that she had gone out the 4th story window, I was astounded, and really did not know how to replyThe apartment was locked from the inside, the key was not working on the outside so we had to break inThe back window was open, the screen pushed out and lying on our breakfast room roof, two stories belowHer luggage was gone, and only one set of keys was found in the roomOur breakfast room roof is one story above our deck, and one of the chairs on the deck was upendedFrom the deck it is yet another story to the streetFrom the evidence we observed it would appear to corroborate her story, yet looking at the challenges posed by the sheer drop, I continue to be amazed that it happened. As far as what happened in the fourth floor bathroom, as I stated accompanied our first floor guest to his room, left him there, and in fact did not meet him again during his stay as he was always at the convention centerWe, the two hosts went to bed after that, and were both asleep when the alleged incident in the bathroom occurredThe house is very large, over square feet, and very solidly built, dating from 1835, so sounds do not carry from one area of the house to anotherI spent sometime cleaning up the kitchen after our first floor guest left, and when I went to bed the house was completely quietI believe it is very unlikely therefore that she could hear someone climbing the stairs from the first floor to the fourth; they are thickly carpeted.I would be happy to meet any representative of the Revdex.com at the house to show you the layout, the logistics involved in the alleged incident, and to discuss it with you.Nevertheless, we are concerned for our reputation, and as stated to her on the phone the next morning, instructed our agent to refund her funds, which was done.We have been in business since the Republican convention, and have never had an incident such as this. Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to respond to the complaint you received.Very truly yours,Jack D.Owner, Belle Epoque Bed and Breakfast

May 26, 2016Dear [redacted]:I am responding to the recent communication to you by our customer rejecting our explanation of events she alleges. The only part of her rejection which is true is that she did not tell Bob she was here for a "girls' night out". That was told to Bobby her husband. We did wonder why she never went out.She did ask Bob to meet the French speaking host. She did not ask to meet the French guest. We simply thought she might enjoy it as she expressed an interest in the language. We try to accommodate our guests and provide a pleasurable experience for them. Her version of what happened is unlikely, unsubstantiated and unable to be substantiated. Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to respond to the complaint you received.Very truly yours,Jack D.Owner, Belle Epoque Bed and Breakfast
