Bellevue Terrace Reviews (%countItem)

I have lived here since January 5, 2018 to June 30, 2018. I have paid all rent and utilities timely and left the place spotless. I called three times before they finally answered me to inquire about my deposit, a total of $250. I spoke to LINDA MERAZ who said I owed $108 which would be taken out of my deposit, when asked about the charges she said it was utilities and it accounted for the past 45 day billing cycle. Mind you my utilities are around $35 to at most $60. She said that I would receive the deposit in about a month from their corporate office and that she could send me a ledger. I know how my bills work, I have paid them for the last 6 months, there is NO WAY they should be up to $108 magically in the last 45 days. Linda Meraz is doing this because I went to her a few days before the lease ended to inquire about staying at the smaller apartments; she said those were no longer available. When I asked about staying an extra month she said that it would be an extra $100 (which I have never experienced, both myself and others) when asked about an extra 3 months she said an extra $400 on top of monthly rent. She then stated that in order for the amount to be the same I would have to sign a lease for an extra 6 months. I told her I would sit on this and then I moved out. My mother decided to call on my behalf and then things got bizarre. The woman who answered which I'm quite certain is LINDA MERAZ answered the phone and stated her name was Eunice on both instances my mother called. She told my mother she would not give her information regarding my "living situation," and told her that I would receive my deposit in two weeks instead of the month she told me. She then gave her the corporate number who when reached gives out a personal number to a guy named Josh Vannenberg.

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment I should not owe anything except for the correct amount which is for the utilities from the last 45 days. I should owe from $40 t $60 dollars (I live alone)instead of the inflated $108. My bills have been consistent since I have lived there and I should not be take advantage simply for leaving, I have been a model tenant and this is completely unethical. The deposit I should receive back should be 210 or 190. Or I could get the bill and receive the full deposit.

The Corners Apartments kept my $99 deposit after they said I did not qualify to move in to the apartments. They refuse to give me a refund.
On the 17th of October, I went to the Corners Apartments to obtain a lease. The first person that I spoke to was named B. She took the time to show me an example unit as to how the apartments basically looked. She advised me that there was a studio unit that could be held if I gave her $99 that day to hold it. I informed her that I work for $8 an hour at 35 hours per week and that it would be two more weeks before I get paid. She said that she would be there until 6:00pm if I needed to call but I was unsure about the offer that day. The next morning on the 18th, I was able to obtain the $99 to put down on the unit. I went back to the Corners Apartments and there were 2 other women there, besides B. I informed both of them that I was there to pay $99 for the holding of the studio unit. One of the ladies told me that there was a special offer available for a limited time. She told me that if I decided to move in on the 28th of October instead of the week of November 10,11 or 12th, that $300 would be taken off of my November rent. Another woman named Samantha S, went on to explain the pro-rate, which was $61.70,and the concession price of $68, the gate remote of $20 and that the monthly rent would be $617. Samantha informed me with much enthusiasm that it was a good deal to take advantage of.She also said that she noticed that I had cash and that I needed to have a money order or check. I quickly left the leasing office and obtained a money order.Samantha S began the application process. While filling out the application, I informed Miss S that I saw these apartments under the Second Chance Leasing List. She asked me if I had any bankruptcies or broken leases, or any type of bad rental history. I did proceed to inform her that I only made $8 per hour at a local child care center and that my hours were 35 per week. I also informed her that I was in the process of obtaining a second job. She asked if I had my pay check stubs. I informed her that I would have to look for them. She told me that I could email them to her once I found them. All this was being said while I was filling out the necessary papers. After signing the last form, I assured her that I would look hard for the pay stubs because I had them put in a certain folder. She received my money order, shook my hand and happily said "Thank you Ms. A, I will send you an email to remind you about the check stubs."
I said "Thank you" and left. Within the next 2 days, I called and asked if I could receive my keys on Friday because I wanted to move some of the smaller items in. Ms.S*** informed me that I could do so, but they had to continue running a credit check on me first. I did notice her email about the check stubs but I still had to continue looking for them. On Friday the 20th, we speak again by telephone and she reminded me that I needed to bring the check stubs. I asked her if I could bring them on Monday, the 23rd. She said "Yes, that would be fine". On Monday the 21st, I found my paycheck stubs. On Monday I took the pay check stubs to the Corners Apartments. I had 2 months of check stubs from my present place of employment, and the last month of a previous job, which added to 3 months of pay stubs, which Ms. S told me would be acceptable. Miss B receives the stubs and makes copies. I told B that I also had the $398.70 for the move in total. She told me to hold on to that and not give it to them yet because my credit was still being checked. I asked why it was taking this long to approve my credit. Ms. B informs me that since I had no bad past rental history, I should be in good shape. On Octoner 24th, Ms.S*** calls me to say that I did not qualify because I did not make 3 times the rent and that because a contract was signed, no refund could be given on the $99 fee.

Desired Outcome

On Tuesday, the 24th of October. I asked Ms. S, "I saw this apartment under the Second Chance Leasing List." She told me "Second Chance is for those who have bad rental history, such as broken leases, bankruptcy, and evictions." I responded by saying, "I don't have any of that, but I see where it is also for people with financial issues." Ms. S responded.."Well you did not bring me your pay check stubs on time." I reminded her."I did tell you that I had to look for them, and you said that Monday, which was yesterday, would be fine. My income did not change in the last few days and I did tell you that I only made $8 an hour and my hours were 35 per week, and that I was in the process of obtaining a second job. I am supposed to move in on this coming Saturday." She goes on to say."I am sorry Ms. A, you still don't qualify because your income is still too low." I ended the conversation by kindly saying.."Okay, thank you." After 2 days of trying to figure out which step to take next, I proceeded to call the leasing office from 8:30 am to 9:15 am with no answer. I wanted to speak to the manager. I did not continue to call because I had to get ready for work.
