Bellport Marble International Reviews (1)

Review: I ordered White Carrera marble for my Bathroom. They came and measured the bathtub and the stand up shower, I paid for the template also as they said I had to. I showed the girl I paid the deposit to what it looks like as they had a sample on the desk at the office. She said yes it will look like that with more gray veins in it. When I went to pick up the product it was all gray no white. The lady a different person was there and insisted it was Carrera. I asked for a sample they had she showed me a sample and it was completely different and she said that was White Carrera. And I said it is White Carrera I ordered and she requested to see my Invoice which said White Carrera. I had also asked for 1/2 bullnose and it was a square straight cut. She said it wasn't on her Invoice it was on mine once again. Then she said they will fix it and rectified it and to come back Monday. We did they said they did not have the 3/4 inch but had 1 1/4 inch in stock. We said that was fine we didn't have time to wait for them to order it which was going to take another week or so. Then I get a call that I have to pay $300 more because they have to trim the Marble down to 3/4 and I had to pay for it. I said absolutely not you made the mistake not my problem. They said then we are not doing it and I asked for my refund back since they refused to provide what I had ordered. They said no my fiance when there with police to take a picture of the marble they tried giving us, because we decided to take them to court for our refund back. They forged my signature on the Invoice as if I signed it stating I understand special orders are none-refundable. They said give us $150.00 for trimming the marble from 1 1/4 to 3/4 and we will get it done. I said no I gave you $1105.00 and it was their mistake. They refused to correct the mistake and now I am taking them to court to get my money back. Absolutely disappointed, I tried giving business to a local business and it turned out horrific.Desired Settlement: I want my full refund back $1105.00.

[redacted]:

This letter is in response to the complaint filed against Bellport Marble International, Corp. by [redacted].

This customer had called our shop and wanted to order 3/4” White Carrara marble over the phone. We told her she had to come in and leave a deposit in order for us to cut anything or to come do a template (measurements) at her house. Since the pieces were for a bathtub surround and a shower threshold we recommended that she have us do a template. We gave her a price for the template and fabrication (not installation) and she was happy with the price. She came into the shop to leave a deposit for the job and was shown the color she received. When she came back to pick up the pieces with her boyfriend, she examined the merchandise and paid in full. When she and her boyfriend were leaving, they realized the edge was incorrect. I confirmed this from the paperwork and told them that it would be fixed ASAP. This was when she all of a sudden said that she didn't like the color and that it wasn't white carrara; it was another marble. I told them that it was indeed white carrara. The boyfriend kept insisting that it wasn't and then said he wanted a refund. I refused due to the fact that the pieces were the correct stone. The boyfriend then started saying repeatedly that he was a cop and that I “would pay for this in some way or another.” I felt threatened by these statements. I offered to redo the pieces and they were happy with that. They were told there would be a charge if the new pieces needed to be milled down. They returned that Monday to look at other pieces of stone. They were shown 1-1/4” thick White Carrara 'C' and they were happy with the color but then did not want to pay for milling down to 3/4” thick.

We feel this situation is not our mistake. They were given 3/4” White Carrara. White Carrara is a natural stone that varies in color (shading and veining). In response to her claim that her signature was forged, this is absolutely not true. On the paperwork her name is [redacted]. She signed this paperwork when she came to leave the deposit. She never gave mention to the name [redacted]. We were definitely willing to redo the pieces and were willing to charge $150 instead of $300 for milling down the pieces (which is extremely time consuming). We are still willing to rectify the situation.

Sincerely,

Consumer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

As far as ordering the pieces over the phone it is a lie because I tried getting an estimate over the phone not pay for the product or order it. I came by after they measured a template to put down a deposit. I never examined the piece when I pick it up. [redacted] asked for the money first and when I saw the pieces I told her this is not the correct color. I was trying to match the stone in my house which they saw when they came to measure. I gave the deposit to another teller and showed her the piece sample she had on her desk and stated this is what I need. She said yes it would be like that with more grey veins. The stone they tried giving to me was all grey with dark grey veins, I needed white with grey veins that is what "white carrera" stone is. [redacted] said we will rectify and yes she admits the bull nose only not the color problem. As far as the signature doesn't matter whether it says [redacted] on the receipt the signature is not mine. It looks scribble and I can prove what my signature looks like, also their receipt did not have the 1/2" Bull nose on it and mine did. How would I fake anything on my receipt when it was a photo copy of the one they have. In addition we were never told we would be charged $300 for the mill down. [redacted] said we sill rectify the situation on Friday, and on Monday the man called and said we need to pay $300 for the mill down. I said my receipt says 3/4" I am not paying for your mistake as it was their mistake. The man said well otherwise we have to order another 3/4" slab as they did not have it at their store and it would take over a week. We had the contractor who was finishing up our bathroom and we couldn't wait therefore I said then refund my money because I am not paying for your mill down to get the slab to the size that I ordered. Then he said we not refunding and do what you want. As far as my boyfriend being a cop he did not make any threats, all he said was don't worry I am a cop and will get my money back because I know what to do legally. [redacted] got on the phone to the man and said oh he is a cop and we should fix this, after that she said "We will rectify on Monday" on Friday. Now she is claiming she was threatened and that we examined the piece. Also, she tried convincing us to take a one of the pieces home to see if it would match our bathroom white carrera. Then my boyfriend said no I know how it works once you take anything home you are accepting the product as is and we are not doing that because I know the law! He call the cops and went to the store to request to see the pieces they were trying to give to us and their receipt. He went with the police because he did not want any accusations as [redacted] is stating he threatened her. This why a police report was done and pictures of the incorrect pieces where taken as well as the correct ones they had. They look totally different and the only time they agreed to charge $150 for the mill down was when my boyfriends showed up with the cops to take a police report. At that point we had enough of their lies and did not want to deal with them. If they want to fix the problem I need my refund as I already purchase the pieces from another marble store.
