Hello!Just responding to this comment. We had assumed that this was already handled, so I'll just respond as to what has happened so you can add it to your records. Mr. has a contract with us for *** for a wedding. The contract clearly states that half of the payment is due up front when the contract is signed and that the second half is due one month before the wedding (*** in this case). In addition, a check for security deposit is taken on *** in caseof any damage during the wedding, but is only cashed if damage actually occurs. All payments are clearly listed as being non-refundable in the contract.In the contract, the 'act of God' clause clearly dictates exactly what happens in situations like this one (mandated virus shutdown of all events over 10 people). In this case, the contract requires that we, the venue, make a reasonable action to rebook the venue for a future date. The client was contacted and given two options:1. They could do a small gathering on the date that they had originally scheduled (***) of 10 or less and then the venue, at no additional charge, would offer them a full rental at a later date of their choosing (pending availability) to have a full reception with family and friends when it was safer to do so.2. They could move their entire wedding, at no additional charge, to a future date of their choosing (pending availability) to have a full reception with family and friends when it was safer to do so.Mr. declined both those options. He rightfully noted that he had prepaid the second payment and security deposit before they were due, so we have already refunded his second payment and security deposit since they were technically not required as of yesterday's date. Through this action, he has effectively cancelled the event at our location and waives any further opportunity to reschedule the event since the payment was not fulfilled in full.Contract is attached for your viewing should you choose to do so.
