1) Per my conversation and email with Mr***, the request to share the cost of the repair was between him and the sellersThe amount of $is in the email from Mr *** to Mr *** on 8/9/
2) In the complaint we indicated that the roof could not be repaired, this is what we were told by professional roofersThe roofer, Mr***, that Ms*** hired told us after inspection that he did not believe if could be repaired but would do more checking. He asked if he could also give us a bid on the new roofWe never heard back from him, on a repair until Ms*** gave it to us
3) The statement about Silicone being the go to material for repairs is correct, and per the 7 roofers, had this been done correctly by the handyman hired by Mr***, it should have workedThe application was not done correctly, the surface was not properly prepared, thus causing several large bubbles and the subsequent leaks
Mr*** states in his email 8/9: “the repair could not be confirmed to have worked until it rained” and “we tried to fix it and now realize the fix was insufficient” We turned this into our home owners insurance and upon inspection, they denied any roof repair due to identification of a “faulty repair” by the roof inspector
We had a meeting with Mr*** on 9/18/16, he discussed several options to build up the roof with a self-leveling filler and offered to purchase the materials to try thatThis was followed up with an email for us to look at several products and videos online to see what he was offering to doAnd a final email on 9/22/indicating that he was willing to remove the silcone, apply a new coat and even to come back in two years and re-coat it again
We have never asked the seller, Cactus Mountain or Mr*** to pay for a new roof, we simply asked them to contribute to the repair, which at the time of his email was $Had they been willing to even split this with us, I would have considered this matter closed

Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] purchase the home at [redacted] on April 27, 2016.  When the roof leaked several months after the [redacted] moved in, Mr. [redacted] emailed the seller asking them to share the cost of a repair with the new owners.  He copied the new owners on the...

seller’s response where the seller declined to share in the cost of a repair.  I did not see a dollar amount when I reviewed these emails as the [redacted] indicated in their complaint to you. Mr. [redacted] explained to Mr. and Mrs. Barnes, in my presence on September 24, 2016, that the seller was given two choices for repair of the roof and the seller chose the silicone repair.  If you read about the product, here is what you will find: "Silicone is quickly becoming the go to material in the flat roof coatings market.  Its benefits range from leak-free protection to improved aesthetic appeal of the roof to improved sustainability".  Mr. [redacted] did not choose the repair option, the seller did.  The seller acted in good faith with the belief the silicone repair would work and the seller disclosed this to the buyer. In their complaint, the [redacted] indicated that the roof could not be repaired.  That is not so.  When they contacted me, I hired a licensed roofing company to evaluate the roof and see if it could be repaired.  The [redacted] were given an estimate for repair in the amount of $3,386 that comes with a 10 year warranty when I met with them on September 24, 2016.  When they spoke with this roofer, they only asked for an estimate on replacing the roof not on repairing it.  It is unfortunate that the roof leaked but neither Mr. [redacted], Cactus Mountain Properties nor the seller have done anything wrong.  The sellers gave full disclosure of past issues and Mr. [redacted] and Cactus Mountain Properties went above what was required to try and find a solution.
