I was looking for an AC service company that has been in business for years and has a good recordMy experience with REM matched my expectationsThey were honest and customer orientedWorkmanship was the best I could expect, and Joe M, the owner, was very friendlyThe crew that completed the installation was very experienced and professionalThe complete system replacement was done to high workmanship standards and in a timely mannerJoe himself performed the final inspection and answered all of our questionsOur thanks to the REM team My rating: Excellent

I carefully read reviews for several AC company's before choosing REM ACPrior to retirement I was a Contractor SPA for a major aluminum extrusion company, I dealt with various contractors dailyFrom the time of quote to completion of project, I have never been so impressedThe install team consisting of ***, *** ***, ***, and ***, are true professionals that take pride in providing true quality workmanshipThis team arrived each day prior to the stated time and each team member was in clean uniforms and started their task right away, everyone knew their assignment and was Happy to assist others when neededProtective covering was placed thru out the work areaOld material was removed and area picked up promptlyArea was picked up and cleaned daily at the end of work by all team membersAt end of install Proper operation instruction was given and verified that it was understoodIt gave me great pleasure to watch a team of true professionals complete a project in a Safe and timely mannerREM AC can certainly use me as a reference Again,Thank You to the REM Install Team they are Real Professionals

We have a year old home and Lennox air conditioning system and had a preventive maintenance service performed on April after repeated solicitations from REM and coincidentally the AC broke the next weekWe called to have them diagnose the problem and were told it was the blower motor control moduleThey also recommended replacing the blower motor at the same timeCost to repair was +$if not under warranty and +$if the parts are under warrantyWe called the original installer but they wanted another $to rediagnose the problemOn April we went with REM and with a military discount they said it would be $I assumed it would be a lengthy 4-hour repairWhen I got home my wife said he was done in minutesI called and talked with Joe the manager to se how they justify $per hour repairs we were charged...he mentioned they price on the job not hourly rates and the paperwork involvedI told him we were upset and may not use them in the future for service/repairsJoe said he will talk with Dennis the tech who performed the work in the morning...we never heard backAfter talking with coworkers, friends and doing some online research the repair with parts run between $135-$Our parts were covered under warranty so only labor, parts (they had the parts in their warehouse) and shipping were applicableSure feel like we got taken for a ride on this one

If you are looking for an honest, experienced Air Conditioning company this is itTheir bid on the job was complete, the work (and workers) were experienced and efficientIn speaking with the city inspector after the install he commented that REM is "one of the good ones this shouldn't take long" We received quotes from different companies, and while REM wasn't the cheapest, I can honestly say that they were the bestTheir Angie List and Revdex.com ratings are excellent, and now I know why There is something to be said about a company like REM, that is family owned from the city in which they serviceNobody likes to have repairs, but knowing that it is done right (actually better than before) is something you can feel good about They have a new "life long" customer and I will not hesitate to recommend them

Soon after I bought my house in HC I had to replace the A/C unit; this was about years ago REM came highly recommended, and I hired them Then, about weeks ago, I had to have the entire unit replaced Joe M*** gave me a great quote...and I went with it His crew installed the new unit in about four hours time Since then, the very quiet unit has performed perfectly An inspector for Hillsborough County remarked how professionally the job was done Since the first installation I have continued a maintenance agreement with REM....and those twice-a-year visits, generally by the most genial Dennis, has been beneficial I highly recommend REM to anyone seeking expert AC work in our area

$That's the amount that REM expected me to pay for a capacitor and an hour of their timeI understand that businesses need to make profits, employees need to be paid, and overhead existsHowever, unless you're installing a flux capacitor into my AC unit that allows me to hitch a ride with Marty McFly back to 1985, then the price you're commanding is exorbitant and absurdLast I checked, my AC unit is not a DeloreanGranted, hanging out with Doc Brown would be cool, but I possess enough wisdom to know that capacitors are inexpensive, readily available and easy to changeI can pick them up on Amazon for less than $(or I can spend a little more if I want American made), and I even get free shipping with PrimeConvenient! As for REM, they will show up, they will do the job, they will write you an invoice for your soul as paymentJust remember kids, you don't always get what you pay forDo what I did, tell them to take their part and leave
If you decide you are going to hire someone to do this "repair," then shop aroundAll things considered including costly liability insurance and amortization, you should still be able to find a reputable company or individual who can do this work for somewhere in the ballpark of $150, and even at that they will be raking in boatloads of profit
*Update*
Purchased a new capacitor on Amazon for $and spent another $for overnight deliveryWith REM's $service call (they still had me pay for them showing upFair enough.) and the capacitor I ordered online, I'm up and running for $If you don't call them, just order the part and do the repair yourself (with YouTube for consultation), then you may be up and running for $to $A far cry from $Just use caution as to not fry yourself from electrocution in the process
