On March 17, 2020, I received a call from *** at Benchmark Retail Services Inc stating that we had a bill that was sent out after a three year contract was up (meaning the contract would have started in 2017). I thought that the invoice looked suspicious. He them told me that it was a verbal contract between them and the previous administrator that we would agree to an online showcase listing for ***. I thought that was weird because that is part of our *** monthly bill. I looked through my financials and I could not see anything, so I looked at my council meeting minutes from our monthly meeting to see if council had authorized the previous administrator to agree to such contract. I then called the previous administrator at home to see if she remembered this because I could not find anything. She said that this is something that she would never do. The GST number on the invoice does not look real. The information they have on the link they sent with our ad, is word-for-word what is on our *** page. I took this to my council and they agreed that it was fishy and that I was not to pay it. As Rural Municipal Administrator’s, we cannot make decisions to purchase without the approval of council, especially for these amounts. One June 11, 2020, I received another call from *** telling me that we had an outstanding bill still and we would be getting charged interest if the bill was not paid soon. I expressed to him that I tried calling him during the pandemic to discuss this further, but his response was that they were not at work. I told him it would be a few days until I could deal with this matter. With saying this, it gave me time to file my first complaint with *** to figure out what was going one.
On June 29, 2020, I followed up with *** and you guys did not receive my complaint. So I would like this to be looked into so that I can get this guy off of our backs, or if it is real, get him dealt with so that he can leave us alone.

Good Morning and thank you for bringing your complaint to my attention,
I have reviewed the notes from the conversation between our representative (***) and Miss.. I'm somewhat surprised that Miss. did not consider this file to be closed to her satisfaction, perhaps our representative was not clear in his conversation with Miss., if that is the case, I apologize.
In the notes, on June 29th, Miss. had told *** that absent proof of order, that the board would not pay the invoice. Given that we have no proof of order, the invoice was written off and the listing was scheduled to be removed from our website. This usually takes between 10-14 working days.
