Contract w/Benchmark Roofing signed on 7-31-13, to replace cedar shingles on front gable of house with Synthetic NV Cedar composite shingles. [redacted] was the production manager who did the original contract & estimate of the materials needed. After 2 visits to measure for the materials; he told me we needed 3 square of material for the job. That equates to 12 boxes of shingle, 1/4 sq for each box.

After several delays & much confusion with the installer, who was hired by Benchmark, the job was finished on 11-18-13. The problem is that only 1/2 = 6 boxes of the materials was used to complete the job. Benchmark refuses to credit account for the over estimate of the needed material. The NV Cedar Composite is the most expensive composite on the market! Estimate wholesale value of the remaining product $600.00. Thats the amount I am witholding from

Benchmark claims that they wanted to have enough materials to finish the work. I responded by saying they had a very experienced roofing professional person measure (2) twice, and overestimated needed material by 100%.

We are at a standoff to the dollar amount of 600.00. The original contract is enclosed.
