Do Not Buy: Wore through after 3 yrs easy use
I'm a small woman, not hard on furniture, and never wore out even a cheap piece of furniture in my life.

Benchmaster's faux leather (recliner w/ ottoman) completely wore through, including the arm rests at 3 yrs! I called customer service just to let them know, I didn't ask for anything & was very polite. Customer service was surly & clearly did not care. They know. Don't waste your money supporting this now crappy company.

Back fell off!!
We spent a lot of money on a power recliner two years ago. Last week a screw fell out? This week another screw fell out and the back of the chair fell off!
HOM furniture sent a repair man $50 fee. He said the screws go into WOOD (particle board) with an Allen wrench and another screw was coming loose. He said maybe they could find a replacement base but suspected the chair would do the same thing

Garbage chair
I purchased 2 "leather" recliners from a reputable Hickory NC furniture store. After 2 years one started flaking off...everywhere. I contacted the furniture store and oh, no surprise, they no longer carry Benchmaster and would not stand behind it. 6 times I reached out to Benchmaster over the course of 2 more years with NO response. Finally I ordered a new Benchmaster recliner to match the 2 nd one that was not falling apart. The new one has a different covering as I am sure they have heard from everyone who bought this garbage. So, as expected, the 2nd one is now a mess of flakes and bare spots and I reached out 3 more times to Benchmaster, no acknowledgment. I would bet dimes to dollars that Benchmaster has received compensation from the company that supplied this "leather", but they have not passed it on to we, the consumer who spent over $1000 for this crap. Shame on them.

This stuff is absolute junk...the back started peeling less than two years after it was purchased from Turk Furniture in Joliet IL, followed by the arms and then the seat, all over a period of several months. Contacted Turk and got the run around, but they did put me in contact with Bill Vankat, the sales rep for Benchmaster. Vankat contacted Gene Trobaugh, the President of Benchmaster, and after more back and forth, I was sent, in increments, a new back, seat and two new arms.
Except that now, after another two years has passed, the same thing is happening...the "leather", which it isn't, is beginning to peel from the backing, and now what I have for my $500 is two pieces of crap. I have pictures of all the damage, as well as the entire story of what I've gone through with these thieves, on my blog at http://krissongs.com/2018/10/25/warning-do-not-buy-products-from-benchmaster-fur... /> Both Vankat and Trobaugh are liars, and the company sells junk. Do not buy anything from these people unless you're okay with throwing your money out the window. Nothing but a huge ripoff.

0 stars. leather began peeling after about 1 year after purchase of our recliner/swivel. Purchased from Crest Furniture in Lisle, IL. Turns out it is composite (basically leather scraps glued together). Price $509. Total junk do not buy!

I purchased a Benchmaster recliner at T J Max Home Store. $500.00 for chair and ottoman which the salesperson said was leather. After two years the so-called leather started peeling on the arms. I went to their website where I discovered that they call it bonded leather. If you want to have some fun google bonded leather, you will find the horror stories interesting. What is called bonded leather is a joke and should be banned as a furniture covering in the U.S. If anyone finds that spending $500.00 on a new chair every two years this is the chair for you. I spoke to a gentleman at Benchmaster and he told me I could purchase new arms for the chair for $15.00 each. I have emailed several times to order two new arms for the chair and have never received a response. Never buy any product covered in bonded leather, it is JUNK.

If you read the following review, you can pretty much add my name to the list. What's interesting is Benchmaster has had this complaint more than once. The chair I purchased from Walker's Furniture in Kennewick, WA did the same thing. The upholstery began cracking around the top front of the chair then both arms. I contacted Benchmaster and was asked to get a receipt from Walkers. I called Walkers but was told they were having computer problems and they would get back to me when the problem was fixed. That was last December. Walkers offered to sell me another chair (not likely) and Benchmaster offered to sell me replacement parts with added shipping costs. What happened to customer satisfaction? What happened to standing behind the quality of your product? What happened to integrity?

Review: Purchased chair model 7130H, order [redacted] (stress free recliner w/ottoman) from [redacted], ###-###-#### on 1/01/13 delivered on 1/13/13. Several hours after we had chair in our home, we noticed it appeared crooked and felt crooked when we sat in it. Contacted D[redacted] and on 1/17/13 they delivered a replacement chair while picking up the first one. The second chair had an order no.#[redacted] dated 1/8/13. After having the second chair for a little over one year, we have noticed the leather material peeling in various places, it is getting continually worse. We contacted the store and they directed us to [redacted] of Benchmaster Furniture to resolve this matter. We talked to Mr [redacted] and he asked us to email a copy of the receipt. We emailed a copy and he emailed back asking what we would need replaced on the chair as Benchmaster only sends parts not a complete chair. Through various emails we endeavored to explain that the arms, back, seat and ottoman cushions that were covered in material were the ones we would need as they were all peeling. We sent pictures of all. He did not seem to understand us and kept emailing back that we needed to name the items we needed. That's what we tried very hard to do. On one email he indicated that he owned the company and was familiar with his products and needed the items names. I emailed that we had no idea of the item names as usually companies have particular item names but we again said that what we needed were the back, seat, arms and ottoman cushions (which was all pieces that were covered in the leather material) to replace on the chair. I realize he is probably a very busy person and this may seem trivial but a chair should not start peeling after a year and a half. We are elderly and it will be hard for us to try to reattach parts to a chair but we were willing to try if Benchmaster would only send the parts. Our first email was on 7/19/14 and last on 10/10/14.Desired Settlement: Were I younger I would not hesitate to try to attach the parts of the chair we are having an issue with (if we could get them) but I don't feel that I should have to do this. Since this is the second chair of the same model with a problem, I feel a refund in cash would be acceptable as I do not want to try a third chair of the same model.
