As per our usual practice, the customer was informed of the three different products available for lien searches and that two of them are for vehicles registered in Alberta, and one is for vehicles anywhere in Canada.  The customer knowingly chose the VIR, which only shows Alberta...

vehicles.  We have no way of knowing if the VIN# the customer provides is for a vehicle inside or outside of Alberta, and we are expressly forbidden by the Alberta government from casual browsing in government databases to determine this, before providing a search product.  In other words, if the client does not know or does not tell us that the vehicle is from out-of-province, we cannot make a proper recommendation for the correct search. However, in the interest of good customer relations, I will be happy to refund their purchase price of $26.55. Thanks
