Benny's Jewelry Reviews (2)

[redacted] came to Bennys Jewelry one day with one of own Benny & Co watches to solve a matter. It had been the first time he had came to us and we were very pleased to assist him. He showed...

us the watch and asked if he could repair it. We took a look at the watch and realized that this watch needed much work done to it. There had been water damage and rust in the mechanism and wasn't working at all. He told us that hes friend had been responsible for the damage and will pay for the damages. We did not tell him the price for the repair, and we said we would contact him with the estimate. We called [redacted] and told him that the cost for parts, labor and service would be 350.00 dollars. He agreed and we told him we would call him when the job will be done. a week later the job was done and [redacted] came to pick up his watch. He was very pleased and satisfied with the work and wanted to tip us. His watch went from looking like a disaster to a fine timepiece. Here at Bennys Jewelry we always have our customers satisfied which is why we have been in business for over 26 years with 3 locations. We also had never had complaints. We are the best jewelry store in Queens. And one of the top Jewelers in NY.

Review: I bought a used Benny & co automatic movement watch from a shop and needed to have it fully polished and repaired. I first emailed(Benny&co).I had to bring in the watch for a repair estimate which I did on 12/**/14, I figured, why bring the watch to a local watchmaker when I can go straight to the Manufacturer, Was I ever so mistaken. I went in to pick up the watch on Thursday 12/**/14, after I was told it was ready by sales associate [redacted] on Thursday 12/**/14. When the watch was handed to me by [redacted], I immediately noticed a large crumb behind the crystal sitting directly on the dial, I also noticed that every roman numeral time place was smudged with fingerprints as well as all over the silver time hands! On top of that, one of the numerals (number 1 time place) was totally missing! I turned the watch over and noticed while looking through the exhibition back that the replaced movement was just there with a plain rotor and the Benny & co. factory name stamp that is supposed to be on the movments rotor is missing the OG Mfr. name, the original had not been replaced. I was told by [redacted] himself that there will be a 30 minute wait and to come back, I went back in 45 mins and it still was not ready. Finally, I was given the watch, they did replace the rotor with the original as well as replacing the missing # 1 numeral, but the watch STILL had smudges on every Numeral and on the silver time hands, as well as two clouded circular spots on the dial, when I asked Benny himself why this was not fixed, he said that maybe if the watchmaker tried to fix the smudges it may come out worse, WHAT? So I pay $380.00 for this mess?? [redacted] did cut a mere $30.00 off of the bill when I inquired, but I still have to take this to a real watchmaker to have it professionally done right, meaning I will have to pay even more. By the way, later that night I wanted to change the time and pulled out the crown to do so and it detached from the watch! The band was also put on upside down! Zero pride in work.Desired Settlement: I need a partial refund for this poor work due to the fact that this repair that it was very poorly done and I will have to take this into a real watchmaker to have it carefully re-done the correct way a $3,000 watch is supposed to be. I paid $350.00 for this "work' and am asking a refund in the amount of $150.00 for a real, prideful watchmaker.1.loose crown unscrews off of stem when setting time2.loose stem detaches from movement3.smudged numerals/hands also dirty and bent4.dirty dial

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

ACCORDING TO YOUR BELOW REPLY TO MY Revdex.com COMPLAINT: SO I WAS "PLEASED AND WANTED TO TIP YOU??" PLEASE..IF I WAS SO PLEASED, WHY DID I LET YOU KNOW MY DIS SATISFACTION AND DISSAPOINTMENT IN YOUR "WORK" AND WHY DID I FILE A Revdex.com COMPLAINT????.. YOU KNOW THE RETURNED WATCH WAS JUST AS BAD AS BEFORE SENDING IT IN, IT ACTUALLY LOOKED WORSE COSMETICALLY.. THE ONLY POSITIVE IS THE MOVEMENT REPLACEMENT OF THE DAMAGED 2824-2 ETA. WHAT ABOUT THE FINGER PRINTS ON EVERY SILVER TIME NUMERAL, PRINTS ALL OVER THE HANDS, A LARGE CRUMB IN THE WATCH ON THE DIAL AS WELL AS SMALL SPOTS ON THE DIAL?? THIS WATCH WAS HANDLED WITHOUG GLOVED CAUSING FINE HAIRS AND DUST TO GET INTO THE MOVEMENT!! ALSO FINGERPRINTS ALLL OVER NUMBERS AND HANDS!!!! THE NUMBER 1 WAS ACTUALLY MISSING!!!! YALL HAD TO RE-DO THE WATCH TO PUT THE # 1 BACK ON AND HAD IT FOR 1 MORE HOUR AND STILL DIDNT GET IT RIGHT...THE HANDS AND NUMBERS, ALL OF WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO BE SHINY AND GLEAMING WERE NOT!!!!

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Consumer

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by Benny's Jewelry regarding complaint ID [redacted].Uploaded are pictures of the watch which has not been worn since I picked it up from Bennys jewelers mainly because the crown/stem detached completly from the watch case/movement when I tried to use it to adjust the time and date on the night of picking it up from being "repaired" by them. Also, the date numerals scratch off on date change when rotating because it seems to be rubbing the dial of the watch, it was put together wrong.....To date, they have not done anything to resolve this issue, they took my $350.00 and that's it, no replies to this complaint regarding fixing the watch correctly as I paid for.Sincerely,[redacted]
