My husband and I have been looking for local suppliers of 1.75L of Beefeater Gin and he entered "Beefeater Reno Nevada" into our internet search engine and found an advertisement for Ben's Liquor which included the Beefeater Gin we were looking for at the price of $19.99. I called the store, told the gentlemen who answered the phone about the ad and he said, no, the item was $23.99. So, I proceeded to the store with ad found on the internet and I showed him the ad on my phone, that had the prices listed and it had Ben's logo and contact infomation clearly on the add and I asked him if this was them and he confirmed, yes it was, but he said it wasn't their ad. He said he needed to talk to talk to his manager. He explained to the manager the situation and the manager proceeded to make a phone call. I patiently waited, the manager still on the phone and the original gentlemen who waited on me when I walked in asked where I found it. I told him my husband found it. I proceeded to tell him what was entered in the search engine. Ben's website was the first result that popped up and he quickly clicked on that. I proceeded to tell him that it wasn't on their website and wanted to show him where it was and he cut me off and said I was being rude when I clearly wasn't. Then he said he was "trying to help me." He wasn't trying to help me, he was trying to not honor the price and he wanted to get rid of me. I was treated like I was making a scene, when I was being very calm. At that point, I was told I can leave the store, to which I confusingly obliged. It's no wonder at this point why there were no customers in the store. I ended up finding the item I was looking for at a local competitor cheaper than what Ben's sale price was. Bottom line, they didn't want to honor the price and their were nasty about it. I will never do business with Ben's in the future.Desired SettlementIt is good business practice to honor the price. Apparently, they have no desire to do that. They have lost customer. They need to apologize for their unbusiness like behavior and honor the price.Business Response Hi [redacted],I am sorry you had this experience at our store. At the time you were in the store the district manager spoke to the store manager to discuss what you stated. The only information we asked for was to see where you saw the advertised price as we would've recognized it if we seen it. Or if it was in fact on our website. The store manager knew however that we had no advertised prices during that time frame as we have not advertised on any website or social media other than our website in the last four months. If you had the link or details this would've been a very quick and speedy process. I do believe you may have had a link however it may have been a very old advertisement is why we asked for the link and where it came from. We at Bens believe in the best customer service and try to provide that at all times. I truly believe that's why Bens has been in business for over fifty years and still going strong. We believe in our locals and they believe in us. If there is anything we can do to retain your business we would be glad to have you back, we also hope you can consider this a once isolated incident. The ad came up in an [redacted] search for Beefeaters-Reno, NV. The price of $19.99 was listed right in the search result and included the same in the actual ad along with many other items on sale in that ad. You childishly claimed it wasn't your ad and suggested I leave your store without honoring your offered price. I looked it up and this was an ad from our grand opening store on South Virginia Street in 2006. I can understand how you can be frustrated, but I would like to add once again that we would have honored this price if you had the ad to show. If the liquor was still at this price it would be great! However these are very outdated prices, and we are working with our ad guy to remove this search link. I would also like to state that we by no means are trying to be rude ignorant or arrogant as you stated, I am simply trying to address the issue at hand. Also the employees at that location would not recognize that price possibly because of the date it was released. I'm not sure how you would like to move forward from this, but anything I can do to help I would be happy to do so. You and your "ad guy" haven't reviewed your published ads since 2006 - eight years - now that's pretty ignorant. And again you are so rude and arrogant as to deny that you were standing right in your own store looking at the very ad in question on my iphone, verified to me that it was indeed your ad and your correct address, and then in response suggested that I leave your store. Your store manager was present during this discussion and made no attempt to talk with me or resolve the problem, which shows you had no desire for a resolution then nor do you now. You obviously read my response with the same care and intelligence you use in reviewing your published sales advertisements. A simple, truthful response and admission of your error would have resolved the matter; too late now! It's a wonder you're still in business; you have only the ongoing goodwill from [redacted] and associates to thank for that.
