In response to complaint I D Number ***, Last December I was contracted by Mr*** *** to install a roof “OVER” on top of existing roof. It was a time sensitive endeavor but was not getting any warmer or dryer out so on the best day, weather wise, I and a couple more
people got started but what we found was Ice puddle up and three inches deep in areas. I tried to contact *** to explain the consequences of roofing over ice but could not get him of the phone so we went ahead and tried chopping the ice to get to a workable surface to no avail so we ended up chopping entire iced roof to include removing all of existing roofing material and pushing it off towards the awaiting trailer. We then laid out fiber board and installed TPO roof of a higher thickness than the Duralast material we had spoke ofThe cold outside made it more difficult to insure perfect welds but seemed to hold moisture out throughout the winter. Well after the snow had melted as well as after several Rains and no complaints, I was contacted in May that the roof was leaking so I went up with a “pick type” tool and, on hands and knees, went over entire roof and did find some areas that did not have sufficient welds, picked them apart, cleaned them and welded themNot satisfied with that he asked me to weld additional strips over each seam so I did so even though I was sure that the seaming I had just done should surely seal. So now after I welded additional strip over the top of each seam and caulked each edge, he climbed the ladder and didn’t like the looks of this “brand new” roofI am certain that the welds I made would have sealed the roof and when you add the extra strip over the top of an already sealed roof How can it leak? *** and I had been close friends for almost three years and over that period I have witnessed how he dealt with several contractors. He had been aggressive with many of them but never with me. I have on many occasions spoken to *** about his aggressiveness eventually leading to bad ulcers and about having a stroke as well as asking him to stop yelling at people and please never yell at me that wayGoing back to the tearing off part… I had now gotten stiffed with the added expense of the wages I had to pay to tear it off, the clean up and the dump fees but that was still ok with me. I was willing to do what my friend wanted until he told me that he wanted me to Find, hire and pay another contractor to tear off what I put on and put a whole new roof onI feel saddened by this whole ordeal that I wasn’t able to satisfy him but as they say “you can’t please everyone” no matter how hard you tryRespectfully submitted by: *** *** Per: *** Construction

Mr*** installed a complete tear-off and re-roof on my building in December Since then the roof leaked numerous timesMr*** has returned in March, April, May, July and September to stop the leaking of the roof, to no availIn March he blamed his help for their inexperience in not making the seams water-tightIn April the leaking continued and once again he tried to make repairsIn May he again returned to make repairs, this time assuring me the roof was water-tightI asked him then to repair the extensive drywall damage and repaint the apartment, he refusedIn July the roof was still leaking and again Mr*** returned to make repairsI again asked when he was going to repair the drywall damage, and again he refusedIn September the roof leaked again and Mr*** at that time decided to put roof material strips over the existing seamsThis is when I asked him to turn the roof and ensuing drywall damage over to his insurance company and have it re-done correctly, at witch point he informed me he did NOT have insurance to cover this jobI was told by him in December that he was fully certified and insuredHis business card says he is insuredHe has not installed new metal parapet wall cap eitherSeams are made wrong as well, the vertical wall under-laps the horizontal surface and it should be the other way around. see pictures

Mr*** latest addition he states that I have made no repairs to drywall. As I have stated in a past response there were large and "thick iced over" puddles of water on roof that had to be removed before I could put roof on I did what I could to remove it from the roof but there was some water under the ice that could have made it through into the drywall but he knew this going inTwo or three days before I was notified that this matter had been brought to the Revdex.com's attention I had received a text from Mr*** to "Stay away from him and his property" and that I am " not welcome in his store and if I see you again it'll be too soon ". He has placed adds in Craigslist telling everyone to " Beware *** Construction" with a picture of my business card in the Green Bay and Sheboygan (I have seen the Green Bay one and was told about the Sheboygan one) areasHe has also accused me of telling tall tales and fabricated stories in my responses to the Revdex.com in his attempt to cover up his own. I have and will always try to complete my contracted jobs in a most satisfactory manner to make everyone happy but as they say "you can't please everyone"

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]

Mr. [redacted] has made numerous attempts at making the roof repairs leak proof- to no avail. The patches he made were inadequate and have failed. He has not acted in a workmanlike manner with regard to making drywall and paint repairs. I have had several bids from qualified roofers since December 2015 and have accepted one. The work will be completed by mid February 2016 and will come with a 20 year warranty. I am not interested in hearing from Mr. [redacted] again.
