Mr*** purchased a used vehicle premier service contract at the time he purchased his used vehicleHe paid $for the service contractMr*** was fully informed of what was and was not covered by this service contract before he agreed to purchase itAfter purchasing the service
contract he was also mailed a statement and full disclosure or all that was coveredUnfortunately, service contracts on used vehicles do not always cover the same components as new vehicle contractsThis would have been explained in the paperwork he received by mail from the service contract company.

When a customer chooses to purchase a Service Contract. That Service Contract overrides the manufacturer's original warranty. So in other words it is an upgrade to what the original warranty was.In Mrs. [redacted] ([redacted]) case she purchased a Service Contract for $1700.00 for 6 years or 100,000...

miles whichever comes first. 
When a cancellation occurs before the end of either the term or miles of the Contract, the Service Contract company takes into account both term and mileage. 
Mrs. [redacted] cancelled the Service Contract on April 1st 2015. The mileage at the time of cancellation was 24946 (see attached signed statement by Mrs. [redacted]). Also see the attached calculations based on 24946 miles. Please also note there is a $50 
cancellation fee, which is stated on the original contract. Total that was sent to the finance company was indeed $1229.11 based on these calculations.
If Mrs. [redacted] would like to contact me I will be glad to send her the attached copies.

We have processed the service contract cancellation on behalf of the customer. Unfortunately it does take time to process, usually 4-6 weeks. We informed the customer of this at the time she cancelled. We also have a policy of offering service contracts to all our customers. It is the customer's...

ultimate decision on whether they choose to purchase or not. We certainly do not coerce customers to purchase optional products. The service contract the customer originally signed up for was fully explained and is administered by a trusted and national insurance company. We have apologized to the customer for any misunderstanding and are doing everything we can to facilitate the cancellation in a timely manner.

Given the information that was provided about a $50 cancelation fee still does not explain why the balance still doesn't add up. There was no cal explaining how to calculate the "proration of miles" because that is bogus. The car is still under 100,00 and I have NEVER used the warranty. I feel more is suppose to be refunded with the little information that was received in the response.

The particular service contract Ms. [redacted] purchased covered her vehicle from the day it was purchased and would remain in effect until the contract expires or is cancelled. The refund is the same regardless of whether the contract is used or not.
For example: If there were a claim administered against the contract if would have no bearing on the refund amount when cancelled. 
Ms. [redacted] signed that there were 24946 miles on the vehicle when she cancelled the contract. (see attached doc) 
The calculation is always based on either term or miles whichever is highest less a $50 cancellation fee. 
The service contract was purchased for $1700.00. 75.242% was due in refund ($1279.11) less the $50 cancellation fee which totals $1229.11. This was the amount the dealership refunded. 
All service contracts are calculated in this manner.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  I also have the original documents that I signed and the fact that you wrote on your copy the amount of the refund and it is not on mine shows that's you have no idea how the amount is calculated. My contract length is 6 years and I terminated the extended warranty before 1 year. I understand the $50 cancelation fee and I have calculated the proration based on the length of the contract by yearly and day by day charge. I am requesting a specific break down of the remaining 213.89 in question that you have ignored responding to for the now 5th time. attached is the oringial copy of the cancelation I have provided!
