Berg Appraisal Services

My husband and I were buying a home and the mortgage company's AMC chose Berg. It took her almost two weeks to get the appraisal in (5pm on a Friday) with some items that needed to be taken care of before we could close. We fixed these items (we hadn't even purchased the house yet because we were asked to get them done ASAP) and she was supposed to reinspect it on Monday. The mortgage company got in touch with the AMC as they hadn't heard anything from her either Monday or Tuesday. Tuesday the AMC called her every half hour with no response. I even tried calling her but she never returned my call either. Our realtor was finally able to get in touch with her and she said she wasn't able to get out to the house to reinspect, but would "try" to get it done by Wednesday. Needless to say we finally got the reinspection report almost three weeks after the initial inspection, causing us to change our closing date twice. Just to show you how incompetent this company is, we had to replace two outlets in the house. We attempted to do so, but we weren't able to get them to work and she OK'd them anyway. It's obvious all she did was look to see that they were done and never tested them. Also, we have a Federal Pacific Electric Panel that has been a known fire hazard and doesn't meet UL standards anymore, yet she never mentions anything about this in her report. Our mortgage company said that they will never use her again and I don't recommend this company to anyone unless you want slow, unreliable service.
