Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
I did not accept the insurance payment for the repair of my van - no check was cashed! Let there be no mistake, the mishap with my van is truly a case of neglect on the part of Berger Family dealership not an accident as stated. Berger's service manager, Mr. R[redacted], admitted his mechanic used a 7000 lb lift to pick up a vehicle with an 8600 GVW weight classification! This was not an accident but inappropriate training by the dealership. Mr. R[redacted] stated the rotors on my van were warped due to the amount of weight the van was carrying , which was beyond the limits of 7000 lb that the lift they placed it on is able to support. The van was originally purchased from Berger Family dealership where I also had plumbing shelving installed by them as wel. Al work done to the van as been done through them which they keep records on, so they therefore knew how much weight the van was. I am seeking replacement of this vehicle plus lost work time due to the mishap. I will except a vehicle that was found by a Berger salesman, Mr. K[redacted], on the internet or one of my choice.

Dear [redacted].We did perform goodwill warranty work to [redacted]'s GMC [redacted] van. While lifting the vehicle it shifted on the rear lift arms causing damage to his van. Normally the technician can lift a van like his because the curb weight is 5300 lbs and the lift capacity is 7000. The GVWR...
(the max weight that the vehicle can safely carry) is 8600 lbs. The customer did not notify the service advisor, technician or manager of any excessive weight in the vehicle. The technician felt he could safely lift the vehicle. The incident was immediately reported to the customer and we agreed to repair the van for him at no charge to the customer. Our body shop estimated the repairs at $1831.50. We also notified our insurance company. We did not charge [redacted] for his portion of the goodwill brake repair.Respectfully,Jeffrey B. General Manager
