Review: I engaged Bergfelds to clean out my late mother's apartment. We had several conversations to confirm exactly what was to be done. I signed the contract and paid a deposit. They found buyers for the items I wanted to sell (totaling $3650), and I paid them to pack up the items I wanted to keep and arrange donation of all other items. The contract and my payment included their supervision of the movers (whom I had hired directly)when they would come and pick up the items, as I live in California. Moving day arrived, and the owner of the company, [redacted], refused to sign any paperwork, necessitating my rescheduling the movers (at a penalty of $200), changing my travel itinerary so I could be there (at a cost of an additional $700), and paying additional fees to the building (an additional $150). The inventory for packing was done via email with myriad photos of all items and a very detailed packing list, which included all my toiletries (Chanel skin products, Kerastase hair products, Jo Malone perfume and a bathroom and linen closet's supply of everything else, totalling several hundreds of dollars woth of items). There have been several other problems with them, but I am specifically complaining because they sent me my final invoice (total of $5,739.25) and informed me that they could not send me the checks for the items sold or my final report until after they received my check. I have also unpacked all items packed by them and all my cosmetics and toiletries are missing. That was several weeks ago. I have not only not received anything, I have tried countless times to reach them by email and phone. They have not responded, although the outgoing message on their business phone is dated today, so I know they are receiving my queries.Desired Settlement: I want my items located and sent to me, or refunded for the full value. Moreover, I want my final report from them and I want the checks they are holding for my property which was sold. I have paid them approximately $5,800, and I don't request that refunded. But I feel that these other items have been fraudulently handled. I regret filing this report but now have no other option, other than to call the police.
