Berkheimer Tax Administrator Reviews (27)

Review: Every time that I call in or send in about paying my taxes they come up with more that I owe. My home town where I owed money to for the year 2011 now no longer uses this company for doing their taxes.

Now if I owed taxes I have no problem paying them and at this time I did pay in full what they said that I owed but now I don't understand when I ask for the proof they aren't able to give me anything. Then when I ask to talk to a supervisors or manager the people on the phone are rude and do not give a name or phone number.

I ask for one of them to call me and nothing gets done.

I do not understand as to why I am not able to get in touch with a someone of higher power of the company to talk and find out why their employees act the way the do every time I call in. I never once have they been cooperative.Desired Settlement: I want someone of some kind of Authority level to call or email out to me. I would also like to share with Revdex.com that this is one of the reasons that they are losing business.

We have received your letter dated january 15, 2016 concerning the above named party.Because Berkheimer Tax Administrator is a duly appointed local tax collector and the complaint atissue pertains to the collection of local taxes and confidential tax information, it is our position that theRevdex.com does not have the jurisdiction or authority to consider taxpayer disputesconcerning the collection of local taxes. Rather, the taxpayer is afforded certain rights and remedies, including the right to certain administrative appeals, under Pennsylvania’s Local Tax Enabling Act,Local Tax Collection Law and the Local Taxpayers Bill of Rights that he or she may evoke. However, with that stated, it is Berkheimer’s position to resolve any disputes or complaintsfrom a taxpayer amicably where possible. In this regard, Berkheimer will review the merits of thecomplaint at issue and address the taxpayer’s concerns contained therein directly with the taxpayer.Very truly yours,General Counsel

Review: My account 0001083 was closed in Sept of 2015. They have held a credit on my account of $382.02 and keep delaying issuing me my refund. On 2/26 Lena said she would talk to a supervisor to figure out how to give me my refund. She never called back. on 3/16 Linda said "its a process wait a couple weeks" I asked for a supervisor and she told me there were no supervisors. She send me to the voice mail of Tracy on 3/16 who was supposedly in charge and she never called me back. I talked to Leonna on 3/29 and she took my number at the start of of the call and said it was in case we got disconnected she could call me back. We got disconnected and no call back. Another 45 minutes on hold on 3/29 got Denise went through the same run around with her and refused to hang up until I was told when I would get my refund which was now 6 months old. She claimed to have spoke to the check cutting department and said it would be cut by 4/1 and give it until 4/15. It is now 4/28 and I can not get my refund from September of last year. I expect my refund with the same added penalties that they add to each bill for non paying customers.Desired Settlement: Want me owed credit on my statement plus late fees

Review: In April of 2014 I received a letter from [redacted] of Berkheimer about a previous complaint I had filed with the Revdex.com about my sewage utility service with Berkheimer. In the letter which I still have a copy of she informed me that the issues would be resolved. Since that time I have asked several times over the phone and via email (I also saved all the emails) asking for a breakdown of the charges on my account to see that the total they were trying to charge me was indeed correct and that the charges [redacted] stated would be removed were actually removed. I have been told many times that my complaint was sent to management but I have still never received the breakdown of charges like I asked. My account is current and all charges have been paid but I feel that because they have not done their part in showing me how they came up with the total that the false charges were not actually removed and that there should be a credit issued to my account where it is due. I am tired of contacting them and being told that a breakdown of charges will be sent to me and then it never is. This was in April and it's now December. I have given them more than enough time to show me what it is I paid $1300 for. I deserve to know what months and charges my money was applied to in the form of a bill break down.Desired Settlement: I want the breakdown of charges and a refund credit issued if they did not remove the penalties and extra charges they said they were going to.

Review: Berkheimer is an agency which collects local taxes for my county. They have garnished my wages without following their own protocol. They stated that they show they mailed a bill and a delinquency letter, which I never received. They also said they sent a certivfied letter which I never recieved or signed for at my local post office. This you can check on and verify. They then garnished my wages at my place of employment for 60.75 for a school tax bill that was supposedly 15.00. If I had received a bill from them or any letter I surly would have paid the 15.00 rather than having my paycheck garnished. This also happened in September of 2014 for the 2013 taxes. At that time I asked them if there was anything else I owed for 2014 and they said no I was paid in full.Desired Settlement: I would like to have my monies refunded to me with the exception of the 15.00 in taxes that were actually owed to the county.

Review: Berkheimer has garnished my wages for over 2 years and 1,000.00 they currently have taken out 204.00 for a tax bill they claim I owe of 143.00.. They took out 800 last year alone on bills they claim I own but I have no record of what they are talking about.Desired Settlement: Would like a full accounting of the money they have garnished from my check the last 3 years and a refund of money they have stolen over that time.

Review: This business does not send accurate bills and then bills for late charges. Even though it is a tax collection department it requires duplicate documentation after schools have reported taxes were paid. Although taxes are filed and/or bills are paid, late charges are applied. The business in never reachable by phone and email responses are incorrect when accurate photo documentation is emailed. The business collects taxes for a socioeconomically depressed area and appears to add extra charges to compensate for the municipality having previous years of delinquent taxes by placing charges with current, on-time payments.Desired Settlement: Billing adjustment for late fee charged when the bill was paid on time. The business bill indicated a due date and the business stated the bill was last years amount. However, while talking with a representative last year about inaccurate bills and 6 months of ignored communication, I was cautioned to mark down a date on my calendar to avoid charges. After doing this and paying the bill by the due date, I was charged a late fee, rejected an appeal, and denied any discussion about this issue.

Review: For yet another year, Berkheimer tax administrator has withheld the proper refund due to my husband and I, alleging that we were "audited" by their office and that our CPA provided to them the incorrect information. We were anticipating a refund of $509 and received a check totaling $46. We have had similar problems with Berkheimer every year that we have had the misfortune of being required to file local tax returns with them. In all past instances, after stressful and lengthy phone calls, emails, and threats to have their company investigated by the police and local news agencies, they have admitted to wrongdoing on their part and given us full refunds.Desired Settlement: Berkheimer needs to refund us our money, as well as conduct an internal investigation as to who felt entitled to keeping all the money we are entitled to receive.
