CALL THE FBI. I'm doing that as soon as possible. They tried to come after my son who was only 17 at the first time of his job and should not be responsible when a company did not pay their local taxes. They also started sending him letters when he was only 13 and 14. Remember people; this is the county where judges get sent to prison for corruption. Call your FBI! I Am.

Receiving bills from Berkheimer 4 yrs after the fact...total amount due $30.50...original amoint of tax due was $5.50. I have moved since then, I am not digging through 4 yrs worth of paperwork to see if I paid local tax of $ 5.50, I don't even have that bank account any longer. There should be something that can be done about these people. I called to complain about recent statements I received from them after bills were paid, now they are trying to dig up anything they can. This should be considered harrassment, and should be illegal. Per Capita Tax payments were sent in early every year but never posted to say the least. Despite personal records show when, how, and what payment method was used, they insisted that if they were not cashed then they never received them. With this said, instead of getting the discount for sending payments in early we are left with penalty on top of payment processing fee. Taxpayers should perhaps look into a class action lawsuit as it seems like a lot of people are experiencing similar issues. Despite notifying them about Earned Income Tax Filing, they intentionally neglected and insisted on forwarding to debt collector for collection. This is going back to 2011. Not to mention years of payments per capita tax for non-resident were not responsive on status of refund.

Review: Berkheimer sent a certified letter requesting payment with a due date of 10/28/2014. The letter was not sent until 11/03/2014. Berkheimer is now attempting to charge late fees and garnish wages for an error on their behalf. Berkheimer also claims that money is owed to them from years past in which were already paid. Berkheimer is attempting to collect "debts" that don't exist as well as assess fraudulent late fees. Desired Settlement: Cease and desist improper and illegal actions . Cease and desist assessing fraudulent late fees over "debts" that don't exist. Send mail before the payment due date not after.

Firstly, Berkheimer has failed to advise me that I am afforded any rights and remedies,

including the right to certain administrative appeals, under Pennsylvania’s Local Tax Enabling Act,

Local Tax Collection Law and the Local Taxpayers Bill of Rights rather they have attempted to employ intimidation tactics with threats of unjust wage garnishment. Secondly, just soley based on the fave that Berkheimer is a tax collecting agency does not permit them to operate in such a way that they are collecting monies for "late" fees when in fact the letters notifying people of such aren't even being sent until after the due date. It is proposterous for any business to say this isn't for YOU Revdex.com to decide, we our a tax collection agency which gives us free reign to operate as we please. Berkheimer is adding on these bogus late fees with such a blatant disregard for taxpayers rights. How can any entity say: Mr./Mrs. John Q./Sally Q. Public you have an outstanding debt here that we want you to pay by such and such a date however we didn't advise you of this situation until after the due date so therefore you are going to automatically have to pay late fee penalties. This type of action is not only a poor and unfair business practice but it's downright illegal.

Review: In 2012 my husband filed his return as being single, with 3 children with another tax collection agency in the area. (Berkheimer Associates) In 2013 my husband and I filed our joint return with Berkheimer Associates again. We did not live in Pennsylvania for the entire 2013 calendar year. However, my husband's employer continued to withhold our local tax amount. My husband owns a home in Pennsylvania but was a resident of Baltimore, MD, for 11 months in 2013. The tax withheld was paid to the incorrect tax collector, Berkheimer, by York Adams Tax Bureau. A non-resident return was filed with Berkheimer who refuses to refund the money because they are not the correct tax collector for the taxpayer's PA residence. Keystone Collections Group, the tax collector for the PA address, also refuses to return the tax because they say that since Maryland is a reciprocal state, they do not allow non-resident credits for local taxes paid to reciprocal states. Our accountant has offered to prepare a non-resident tax return for the time taxpayer lived in Maryland but Keystone refuses to return her phone calls in a timely manner to let her know whether this would be an acceptable resolution. They also refuse to work with Berkheimer to resolve the issue. This has lasted 8 MONTHS. Again, 8 MONTHS. We have paid local, state and all federal taxes that we owe and now our money (after 2 fled returns with different collectors) is being held somewhere and not being given to us. What is worse, is that neither of these agencies has an answer or a resolution or is offering to help in any way. We have called, filed returns and now complaints on both agencies through the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: Very simply, we would like our money released from Berkheimer to the correct agency (Keystone) so that we can get the matter resolved. Also, more training needs to be given the employees answering the phones that answer questions. I was told twice in this process that my "check" was being processed or was with a supervisor only to be told after the 4-6 waiting period (twice) that I was speaking with the wrong agency.

Review: I have received a collection notice from Berkheimer regarding an Earned Income Tax filing. There was no notice sent by the company regarding the Earned Income Tax. Additionally there was no money due on the tax. It is very poor business practices to only inform a customer that money is due, when there had been no previous notification regarding the form. I believe their business practices are highly unethical and a new tax collection agency should be chosen for our area.Desired Settlement: I believe Berkheimer should waive all late fee's an additionally they should be fined for attempting to commit fraud to the local taxpayers. They should be audited for their poor mailing and notification practice. And they should be replaced by a reputable tax collection agency.
